House Republicans are exploring whether to expand the powers held by Speaker Pro Tem Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) as the conference looks nowhere near ready to make a final decision on a new Speaker.

Frustrated by the stalemate that is preventing the House from doing any business, GOP lawmakers are taken a new look at what McHenry can do in his new position, with moderate Republicans seeking to expand the position’s power.

Moderates: Hey, we have a McCarthy lieutenant basically already in the position. Let's expand his powers and leave him there!

NO!

Every major poll shows Republican voters overwhelmingly want Jim Jordan as our next Speaker.

what does the Republican -controlled house do?

Hold a secret vote and nominate Scalise.

still think voting is going to fix this?

Either vote for Jordan or put McCarthy back in. He did get a dream bill on immigration passed and it's in the Senate now. See the "Secure the Border Act".

Stop with the political games.

And start remembering that the Dems have the Senate and Mighty Joe has his pen.

IMO, President Trump should be interim Speaker to guide them to the right candidate.

That's because the uniparty is just as filthy with chinese and ukraine bribery as dopey joe and impeachment would lay it all bare.

“Well, he does swing a mean gavel!”

I liked his immediate office evictions.

Going for 2nd round of votes, Jordan is backed even by Scalise. Jordan is the Freedom Caucus Speaker. Much more needed than a average GOP.

Show me all the bad in his record... I think you are either a neocon or you have no clue what his real record is.

That I never care who the speaker of the house is. I may have scoffed at Nancy but the house has to function.

Call Maria Salazar at 202 225 3931

Office hrs 9-5

Called Maria Salazar's office. Staffer claims Jim Jordon doesn't have the votes.
I shot back, that's only because Republican like Maria Salazar aren't voting for Jim Jordon.

Congressman Giminez will only vote foe McCarthy. His number is 202 225 2778.

Both Salazar and Giminez voted with Pelosi to begin the J6 Inquisition.

They “are taken a new look”? What? I know, proofreading is just so antiquated.

Ah!So nice - they will get those legislative stuff through, but not really have a Speaker.

Kind of like those Continuing Resolutions - keep funding Government, including all those pet projects and funding rogue elements, no spending cuts. Have to pass those continuing resolutions otherwise "Government will shut down". Oh no!! So they can keep getting all the money they want, without any objection. The power of Congress to cut funding is effectively neutered- specifically those Congress members who are diligent about excessive spending and funding rogues.

Similarly we don't have a real Speaker, but we can still get our cr@p through, and no one is responsible since we don't have a real Speaker.

Why do people vote for these "lesser of two evils" who are really crooked democrats?

“I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat.” Will Rogers

If Will was alive today he’s be a Republican, and the quote would need a minor change.
