California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) signed legislation making the state the first in the country to create an alert system for missing Black women and children.
The move has sparked outrage online, with critics calling the new “Ebony Alert” system “racist”.
The law was passed unanimously by both chambers of California’s legislature, the Washington Examiner reports. The goal of the bill is to address the “often ignored or lack of attention given to Black children and young Black women that are missing in California,” according to a statement. The law is set to go into effect on Jan. 1.
Per the statement, which cites the Black and Missing Foundation, “38% of children reported missing in the U.S. are Black. The U.S. population is 14% Black. Black children are disproportionately classified as “runaways” in comparison to their white counterparts who are classified as “missing” and, therefore, many Black children do not receive the Amber Alert.”
The statement also notes, “A recent report on human trafficking incidents across the country also found that 40% of sex trafficking victims were identified as Black women.”
“California is taking bold and needed action to locate missing black children and black women in California,” Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford, who led the legislation, said in a press release. “Our black children and young women are disproportionately represented on the lists of missing persons. This is heartbreaking and painful for so many families and a public crisis for our entire state.”
Bradford is defending the new law amid the online backlash … telling TMZ Live that law enforcement has consistently failed to issue alerts for missing Black youths. He also reminded the haters that missing Black kids don’t get nearly as much media coverage.
“SB 673 would authorize a law enforcement agency to request that an Ebony Alert be activated if that agency determines that it would be an effective tool in the investigation of a missing Black youth or young Black women between the ages of 12 – 25 years. SB 673 would encourage news organizations including television, cable, online, radio and social media outlets to cooperate with disseminating the information contained in an Ebony Alert,” per the statement.
Meanwhile, folks in California are outraged that there will be separate alert systems for missing children based on race.
How did 13% of the population become so precious, so superior, that they must be coddled and flattered and catered to like they are?
More blacks than whites.

Well, sounds like a problem within the “black community” and “black culture”. Perhaps “black leaders” should spend more time fixing their communities and culture and less time looking for excuses and demanding stupid azz remedies that don’t work.

When it comes to racism look at the murdering and raping, beatings and robberies.
Being white or Oriental, identifiably Jewish, among blacks is dangerous, the reverse isn’t so.
I’ve lived and worked among Black people all of my life. I don’t know one who has murdered, raped, robbed or hated White people. They all work hard and have good families that they take care of properly.
On the other hand, every day I open this site I see quips about ‘Amish’ or ‘Do I have to look?’.
I lurked here for many years - almost since the site’s inception - before joining. I always thought of the people on this site as a cut above most people in terms of thoughtfulness and intellect. Lately, it has seemed that many are falling below the level of many Black people that I know.

It’s a sad reality that when a pretty little white child (usually a girl) disappears or has something terrible happen to them, the media puts it front and center.
But who remembers Amir Jennings, an adorable 2 year old who disappeared under suspicious circumstances just like Caylee Anthony? Or who followed with rapt attention the trial of the killer of Nixmary Brown like they did the monsters who kidnapped Elizabeth Smart?
A missing child is a child in danger. A murdered child is an innocent life lost.
The lying MEDIA creates the perception that white Americans don’t care about non-white children being beaten, tortured, raped, starved, horrifically abused, sex trafficked, or murdered.
We do care. It makes us sick regardless of gender or color. It’s the media elites in their high towers who don’t care.
But since the lying MEDIA will still fawn slavishly over stories the likes of JonBennet Ramsey and ignore the countless thousands of black and brown children missing right now, the perception in the black and brown communities is that white people have no regard for these lost little ones.
If an Ebony Alert raises awareness to the plight of black children, innocent babies sometimes being raised in dangerous places through no fault of their own, I have no problem with it.
This is separate by equal. Two generations of black Americans fought to get rid of that principal. Now this generation wants to bring it back.
There is a lot of racism here, no question about that and the mods should do something about it, but when it comes to racism, blacks are without question the most dangerously racist group in America.
People of every race in America know that being caught in a black area can mean violence, rape, or death, sometimes by random mobs of black strangers unknown to each other, spontaneously attacking the non-black simply for being a target of opportunity.
The only ones I get on my phone are for cases hundreds of miles away.

Black and brown missing and exploited children do not get the media attention they deserve.
The media doesn’t care about them.
We do.
It’s not coddling or flattering to a terrified missing child, in danger, that we send out a brief text about them in the hopes of bringing them safely home.
Silver Alerts are issued in Texas for missing disabled senior citizens. Are we coddling them, or trying to reunite a person with their family?
Seriously, not everything is a race war. Take a chill.
My first thought when I heard about this. It seems to be a violation of civil rights legislation.
Seek out the Vivek Ramaswamy posts and you will find that there is a lot of racism on this site.
I heard on the talks shows that there is also a feather alert for native Americans. No /s. I’m serious.

most of which are simply one parent taking a child who doesn’t have custody unfortunately.
