Former President Trump will not visit Capitol Hill Tuesday to meet with congressional Republicans as they consider a next speaker of the House, a source familiar with the 2024 GOP front-runner's plans told Fox News Digital.
The former president told Fox News Digital last Thursday that he would visit Washington, D.C., and Capitol Hill to take part in a House Republican Conference as members considered who would become the next speaker of the House, following the ouster of Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.
A source familiar, though, told Fox News Digital on Monday that the president's plans had changed, and he will no longer visit Washington or Capitol Hill to take part in those discussions or the House GOP candidate forum set to begin Tuesday evening.

Seems like since he and DeSantis both endorse Jordan, who DeSantis also endorsed in 2018, that this should be done deal. A lot going on so they just need to finish this.
And definitely cut short McCarthy's scheming to return to speaker roll.
Although I don’t expect McCarthy to be reelected, I do expect a good number of his buddies in the House to nominate him and play games with Gaetz.
I’d be surprised if it doesn’t take at least five rounds of voting.
They’ve been going overtime claiming 8 Republicans sided with Democrats to ouster McCarthy. Silly.
I think it was a head fake.
I think it was a head fake.
Once he endorsed Jim Jordan, it wouldn’t have made much sense to keep himself under consideration.
A head fake, and maybe also a trial balloon. We may be heading into a year of escalating crises. Electing Trump as speaker may end up being brought up again, sometime in the not too distant future.
Trump only knows how to be the boss, which is fine.
I don’t see him being good at cat herding in the House.
DC may not be the safest place to be this week.
The only chance of him taking the spot is if it’s part of some power play to oust Biden. That may be a long shot, but if people were to have predicted such a well co-ordinated attack by Hamas/Iran on Israel a week ago, few would have believed it. We’ve got 12 + months till the election. I suspect we’re going to be witnessing a lot of surprises over that time.
We could be at war by then...or not.
We could also have a massive economic crash...or not.
Things sure seem “more interesting” than usual.
Yes - no question about it - we’re definitely living in “interesting” times.
No one cares who Desanctimonius endorsed....That in and itself was telling. Trump is obviously the leader of the Party, he’s loved by the grassroots and he was a really good President. A wise political party would be working with that and building off it. The Repukes are doing whatever they can to destroy him (I cliff destroying all of the countries institutions). If Trump loses they’ll blame Trump with no mention of the fact that they, the Repukes, have spent more money trying to destroy him than they did on Obama, Biden and Hillary combined.
When he said he was going, I posted that Trump should stay out of it.
Trump speaker?? It’s ridiculous. He has no idea how the system works...and yes...it takes experience...which he doesn’t have.
??”Trump speaker?? It’s ridiculous. He has no idea how the system works...and yes...it takes experience...which he doesn’t have.”
Ridiculous. He had no experience at being president either (a much more difficult job than speaker) and yet, became the most effective president in my life-time.
He was, the most effective President. I don’t understand how people can forget how well this country was doing, when he was in office. Hell, the whole world was better off. He would make a wonderful speaker until he is reelected President.
