WASHINGTON, Oct 9 (Reuters) - Less than a week after becoming the first U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives voted out by his own caucus, Republican Kevin McCarthy told a radio interviewer on Monday he would take the job back if asked to, as his colleagues contemplated their .
"Whatever the conference wants, I will do. I think we need to be strong. I think we need to be united," McCarthy said during an interview on "The Hugh Hewitt Show" radio program.
House Republicans face new pressure to select a speaker after Israel declared war on Sunday, following a rare attack by Hamas militants that has prompted calls for more U.S. military aid.
In their first gathering since McCarthy's ouster, House Republicans were due to meet on Monday evening. They were expected to hear from speaker candidates behind closed doors on Tuesday and vote to choose their nominee on Wednesday. There could be a House floor vote to elect a replacement for McCarthy later in the week.
Until then, the chamber cannot approve new aid.

This running around with hands over heads about the horror of kicking Speakers out makes no sense.
So what if there is no leadership? THERE IS NO IMPERATIVE TO GOVERN. None. Smooth governance got us $33T in debt. Getting things done and making things work is NOT THE GOAL.
The goal is conservatism, which is NOT getting things done. It is REDUCING government in life, not changing it or increasing it.
The Swamp creatures whining about not being able to get things done reveal themselves as Swamp filth and not conservative.
And you bought it, hook, line and sinker.

I’m disappointed in how my rep, who I thought was conservative, turned out to be a rino and been siding along with all the other rinos in support of mccarthy’s agenda, but will try anyway.
Jordan is my 1st choice, although he has a bit more baggage than Scalise.
Jordan is more hard-nose, but that might alienate some comprises. (He’s a Trumper !!!)
Scalise is more middle and has accrued more good vibes because of his health and failed assassination. He actually might be more acceptable to never-Trumpers and Ds, and it’s support from them that’ll be needed. More likely to bend, however.
JJ’s stiffer spine and unwillingness to bend is why I support him, as that’s what’s needed, imho.
Either will be better than KMac., afraid to stand up for what’s right.
McCarthy is not going to be re-elected. The Speaker Pro Tem fills in for the Speaker until a new one is elected. They have no need to be rushed into a quick vote. Better they take time and get it right
Another reason I never liked this guy… he can’t make up his mind. Last week he said he would NOT come back… he even sounds gay.
He’s been giving plans all year and then turns around, snubs the conservatives and then capitulates to the Dems.
But NOW he wants a “United” GOP?!

He lies as badly as does Biden. I wasn’t the least bit impressed with his BS speech. He talks about how he made 12 trips to Israel, but he never mentions his trips to our southern border, because he’s never been there at all.
