DeSantis brushes off 2024 polling, suggests Trump only leading because 'people have not made a decision'
Fox News ^ | October 7, 2023 | Chris Pandolfo

GREENEVILLE, S.C. – Presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., does not think that 2024 polling reflects the current state of the heated GOP race, shaking off recent surveys that show him in 3rd place.

A recent Suffolk University survey for USA Today and the Boston Globe suggested that while former President Donald Trump remains the front-runner in the race, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley now leads DeSantis by 9 percentage points, 19% to 10%.

When asked about recent polling, DeSantis told Fox News Digital that he believes voters are still "on the fence."

"I don't think any of it matters," DeSantis told reporters at a recent campaign event. "You've got to put yourself in a position to have the type of infrastructure needed to do well when the voting starts. But what's going to happen is none of the polls are going to matter when people start voting. That's what's going to determine everything."

DeSantis also suggested that while Trump maintains a lead in most national surveys, he isn't banking on the numbers to hold at the polls.

"I think at the end of the day, a majority of people have not made a decision," the Florida governor told Fox News Digital exclusively during a visit to Greenville, South Carolina. "So if you're polling someone, and you push them, well if they're kind of on the fence and they know Trump more than anyone, they're more likely to do that."

"If you really pull down, half the electorate is up for grabs in these states, and we're going to earn the votes in all of those states. We have the organization, we have the work ethic, and we have the message to be able to get it done," he continued.

LOL

Trump is exactly acting like a candidate who is massively ahead in all the Polling. Aby candidate so far ahead does need to waste any time on the clowns at the GOP-E staged clown shows wrongly called “debates”

“Trump is certainly not acting like a man who is leading in the polls by 50 points.”

Okay, inform us and Trump how he should be acting, please.

DeSantis picked the wrong year to run. He could have a chance in 2028

Another reason to claim polling is “gaslighting” is because the facts show something a fan of this or that candidate is not doing as well as the poster thinks they should be.

I suspect Trump, like DeSantis, also knows the polls are BS.

I responded to a Field Poll once, in the '80s. I was amazed at how much the interviewer tried to coach and lead my responses.

Since then, modern worries about fraudsters keep most alert folks from considering responding to polls.

So, there is a demo that isn't sure yet (it's still '23), there is a demo that is sure and declines to participate (me), and more and more there is a demo of opposite party trying to influence a poll. (It happens, we "freep" polls right here.)

Okay, inform us and Trump how he should be acting, please.

He's spending money in Iowa on continued polling and on anti-DeSantis mailers.

So, either Trump doesn't believe his own polls or he simply likes burning money.

Which is it?

Denial is Deover. There is no coming back from the utter political idiocy he pulled at the last debate of giving cover for the inflation Biden and the Dems created,

He then compounded that idiocy by siding with McCarthy. It time everyone stop lying to themselves. DeSantis is done. There is no recovery for him. His money is drying up, he falling in the polling, he is over.

No amount of clinging to denial because the truth hurts will change that.

Sure, Presided Trump is a wallflower afraid of public speaking and debate.

Fear, yes, there is no other word for it.

If nothing else, a debate provides a forum for candidates to address issues and introduce themselves to potential voters who don't follow them.

Trump misses needed opportunities to connect with peeps who hear mostly about porn star hush money and indictments and misuse of classified material and to offer explanations to some voters that might not be otherwise heard. Folks who would not otherwise hear from him.

Fear, yes, there is no other word for it. And, it will hurt him in the general.

These aren’t debates, they are clown shows and Trump is right to want nothing to do with them.

I agree we will see if the polls are accurate. I think you believe Trump will win the nomination but lose in the general, right? That may happen, or Trump could beat Biden (or a different Democrat). We don’t know, but we will find out in time.

As for DeSantis, what else is he or any other candidate supposed to say? Seems like some people expect the candidates to drop out before a single vote is cast.

I’m probably in agreement with you about the polls. We won’t know until the votes are cast. Even if the polls are accurate, we are ages politically, before the primaries. Public perceptions can change overnight these days.

Duh-Santis will keep dancing as long as the puppet master pulls his strings.

The other possibility is that duh-santis is fully clueless about the people he serves and throughout the country. He’s lost support of many in his home state.

You want a viable alternative to the president who did the most of any president to help all segments of people in many ways between the time BO messed things up and until Dems messed things up with covid freak out? Add to that that president succeeded on many things even with paul Ryan, McConnell etc stabbing him in the back and blocking him any way they could!

Maybe you should choose another country, because that president was the best we had in many many decades.
