Blue state taxpayers were hit with the highest residential electricity rates in June, outpacing most Republican-controlled states, according to data recently published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Of the 20 states with the highest residential electricity rates in June, 16 of them have Democratic governors, according to the EIA data. The most expensive residential rates of the continental 48 states in June were Connecticut, California, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York and Vermont, all of which President Joe Biden won in 2020, according to the EIA data.
The least expensive states in the contiguous 48 were Washington state, Louisiana, Utah, Idaho, Nebraska, North Dakota, Tennessee, Arkansas and Kentucky, with former President Donald Trump carrying all of those states besides Washington state. Of the least expensive 15 states in the same time period, only two are not governed by Republicans........
Energy costs have risen twice as fast as the costs of all other goods since Biden took office in 2021, according to the House Budget Committee. Currently, energy prices are up by about 30% since Biden became president.

Over 80 million people voted for this, it’s a small price to pay for no more mean tweets by a bad orange man in the White House.
Hey! You need some way to pay for all that free stuff.
Keep voting Democrat for high energy prices, hordes of immigrants sucking up tax dollars, increasing crime and pillaging, higher inflation and a government that is growing so large it is frightening.
Here in NH, in 2019, I spent $1455 for a year’s worth of electricity. This year, I have already spent $2154, with 3 months left to go. I’m projecting $2939 for the entire year.
I live in PA where residents can choose both their electric and natural gas suppliers. The 'PA Electric Choice' program was enacted by republican governor Tom Ridge in 1997. The 'PA Gas Choice' program came later.
I have saved hundreds of dollars over the years by having the freedom to choose my electric and gas suppliers. Something most democrats don't understand, "fair unfettered competition works - if we let it."
Well Blue State voters all wanted to “save the planet”. This is the price tag. They got what they wanted.
LOL
And yet, when the CPI figure is released, it excludes those “volatile energy and food sectors” as if nobody uses energy and eats. WHO BELIEVES ANY OF THIS???!!! After having this BS shoved up everyone’s a$$ since Jan, 2021, if there isn’t a HUGE electoral reversal come Nov, 2024, this country is finished.
The average residential electricity rate in Massachusetts is 14.91¢/kWhr, which is higher than the national average of 11.88¢/kWh1. However, some sources may report a higher average rate of 32 ¢/kWhr, which may include other factors such as taxes, fees, and delivery charges. The average electricity consumption per month in Massachusetts is 779 kWh, which translates to about $116.18 at the lower rate or $249.28 at the higher rate.
The New Hampshire residential electricity rate in 2023 averages 26.53 cents per kilowatt hour. This is 68.77% above the US average rate of 15.72 cents.
The average residential electricity rates in Pennsylvania123are approximately 12.75¢/kWh1, which is 7.32% greater than the national average residential rate of 11.88¢/kWh1. The average commercial electricity rate in Pennsylvania is 9.8 ¢/kWh2. The approximate range of residential electricity rates in the U.S. is 8.37¢/kWh to 37.34¢/kWh1.
Going to be very expensive to charge those electric cars in blue states. Oh well, EV owners can take the bus if they need to go somewhere. Keep voting Democrat.
p
Blue Colorado charging average of $11.46, below average, thank goodness.
Karma!
green takes a lot of green
no worries
govt to the rescue with a govt solution to a govt created problem
energy credits to offset the outrageous utility bills
now everyone is on welfare
“And yet, when the CPI figure is released, it excludes those “volatile energy and food sectors” as if nobody uses energy and eats”
The CPI figure has nothing to do with what the overall rate of inflation is at your house. It is used to measure what the FED should do about it, so it’s a smoothed average cutting out things that can jump up and down violently at any time, which makes analysis impossible. Just make up your own number for your household so you’ll be happy. Call it 100% if you like, no one cares.

FLASHBACK: Obama Promised Electricity Costs Would Skyrocket
Flashback video Monday morning reminding people of President Obama’s “promise” that under his energy plan, “electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”
“Under my plan of a cap-and-trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket, regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I’m capping greenhouse gases,” Obama said. “Coal power plants, natural gas, whatever the industry was, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money onto consumers.”
The Environmental Protection Agency is unveiling new standards Monday on carbon emissions as part of the administration’s climate change agenda.
Full release:
This morning, the Obama administration will announce new EPA rules that will keep the president’s infamous promise that “electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” The promise was so clear, so brazen, that it’s worth taking another look. The president’s plan would indeed cause a surge in electricity bills – costs stand to go up $17 billion every year.
But it would also shut down plants and potentially put an average of 224,000 more people out of work every year. It’s a sucker punch for families everywhere paying more for just about everything in the president’s fragile economy.
That’s why the House has already passed legislation that would prevent these rules from taking effect without congressional approval. Senate Democrats concerned about “pocketbook issues” should take it up immediately.
Meanwhile, our Deep State exports record amounts of our energy.
