Matt Gaetz Took Away Congress's Cell Phone (good piece)

I listened to Kevin McCarthy’s exit speech. To me, it was clear that the government is his blanky, his Teddy Bear; he wants to snuggle with it, kiss its cute little head and sleep with it. He stated several times that he had “served the people” by reaching a compromise with the Democrats and not shutting the government down. I happen to think the people are best served by having an absolute showdown over an out-of-control government freight train barreling down the tracks with no engineer and no brakes.

snip

I heard some Republican talking heads stating, “well yes, the government is out of control, but now is not the time to have the disruption. We can’t afford to have a government shut down before the election.” And of course, this is what the backboneless blatherers always say, which is why there have been 200 continuing resolutions over the last 46 years.

Here’s the way it works. Congress doesn’t do its job. Instead of fighting over how every penny in an appropriations bill should be spent (and in my world having knife fights and bloody brawls), it doesn’t pass any bills. It then waits to a few days before Christmas and in the dead of night passes a 3,500 page omnibus spending bill loaded with obscene waste and special interest favors. The vacuous airheads for the Deep State and their minions in the media all prate, jabber and patter telling us how little Cindy Lou Hoo is going to have a terrible Christmas if the omnibus bill isn’t passed in 8 hours. All 435 members of Congress vote on a bill that not one, let me repeat, NOT ONE of them has read. In a sane world, the enraged citizenry would set up gallows on the Washington Mall

Gaetz is a big spending Republican. He voted for several budget extensions, a two-year funding bill, earmarks, etc in the 2017-2018 Congress. Then voted for the CARES Act, CARES Act II, etc.

Spending is out of control. But Gaetz is holding himself out as a maverick. He’s been at the trough along with the others. It’s just easier to be at the trough when your party is in control of both the House and the Presidency.

The Founders separated from England, but they had a plan.

True leaders, always have a plan.

McCarthy was useless. Fair enough. But even leftist revolutionaries have a plan when they do their thing.

What’s Gaetz‘s plan? Keep celebrating in the end zone even after the game has moved on? Continued showboating tweets? More interviews?

Were you surprised to hear Kevin McCarthy let Pelosi and Hoyer keep their exclusive hideaway offices?

Well I’m hearing it was b/c he bad a secret deal with Pelosi where she guaranteed enough Democrat votes for KM if a Motion to Vacate ever came up

Pelosi backstabbed him and didn’t give KM the votes, so McHenry retaliated by forcing Pelosi and Hoyer out of those offices

This is what happens when you make deals with the devils!

Interesting “the future of military GPS” article here:

Re: 5 - he wants to move to Regular Order, separate Appropriations bills, etc. But you are correct - he’s said little about those the last two days. Just preening for the camera.

Thomas Massie believes the House may well have to go back to Omnibus spending bills. Like him or hate him.

I will predict there will be no government shutdowns, whoever the new Speaker is.

“What’s Gaetz‘s plan?”

His “plan” didn’t start this week.

It began in January, i.e., to have a patriot in the office of Speaker, and he led that effort. Contingencies were made clear to KM what he had to do keep his position or else he had to vacate. Step 1 of Gaetz’ plan.

He failed miserably, and was blatant and arrogant about it. He’s gone. That was Step 2 in Gaetz’ plan.

Step 3 is to elect a Speaker who is more concerned about Americans than appeasing donors, RATs, China, and lobbyists.

Sadly, none of the people who’ve thrown their hats in the ring seem to be that kind of person.

GPS is going away for precision location and timing. Although currently classified, the ability to do what GPS does with natural resources has come of age. The USAF no longer wants to maintain Navstar/GPS. The Dept of Commerce might take it but the military no longer wants it in their inventory. The MIC wants it, but not the warfighters.

This is something I can proudly say today I was directly involved with 30+ years ago. The result of that work not only earned a half dozen of us our PhDs in physics but also made GPS extremely accurate. It also discovered some natural things that can be used for navigation that makes GPS superfluous.

Am I teasing this out, yes, because I suspect this issue will become public very soon and be declassified. It has to, some new aircraft coming online use it. GPS is a great system that was needed for more than people know. It did more to advance navigation and safety than anything else I can think of. It was the dream of scientists and engineers dating before the last century. It was born of necessity, but it will end from obsolescence due to man’s discovery of the world around him.
