Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Sunday warned of airline disruptions if Congress is unable to pass funding bills or come to a short-term resolution before Friday, which would trigger a government shutdown.
“A shutdown would include, just in the transportation side alone, shutting down air traffic control training at the exact moment when the country recognizes the need for more, not less air traffic control staffing and when we have finally got cancellations back at or below normal rates,” Buttigieg said on CNN’s “State of The Union.”

Oh noes!
Umm ... no.
Previous shutdowns have always included provisions for critical infrastructure and personnel.
While I may disagree with the administration of Biden Billions, I suspect that we can all agree that FAA control towers are pretty important, even after the midnight bell.
ZOOM-ZOOM instead of Boeing, Boeing.
Would that be such a bad thing?
We’re up to 20 or 21 shutdowns.
Last time a record 81% were deemed essential and continued working.
It is a shutdown like riots are peaceful.
The government owns the airlines ? LOL
Wow! That old Buttplug is really on the ball. He’s brilliant and queer. Very unusual.
Yet another reason the government should not be running airport security and air traffic control.
What training? They will all be DEI hires and will be only required to watch a 30 minute video to qualify. The first 15 minutes of the video will cover systemic racism in air traffic controlling.
I have no plans to fly. Shut it down. It’s a lie anyway. Diversity and equity training for air traffic controllers is not necessary.
Thanks for the tip, Bootyjuice.
Politicians, both good and bad, should bear the blame not the taxpayers and citizens.
The bad politicians for pursuing a course that benefits them or their supporters personally or, as we currently suspect, a course that feeds an anti-MAGA agenda.
The good politicians for not doing enough or not using all the tools available to them, as any employer would require; and in some cases, for not having the guts to take appropriate steps even if they appear drastic.
Of course, it may become a moot point, with corrupted elections "good politicians" will become extinct.
This person in a government post is an embarrassment
“Previous shutdowns have always included provisions for critical infrastructure and personnel.”
You’re not taking into consideration that the success of bidenomics may be based upon their wishing to destroy the free trade industries and shutting down commerce is a fast and effective way to do it. Retarding the airfreight industry will not stop commerce but it will slow it down enough to put more pressure on the trucking industries, unions, to increase their profits and allow the feds to closely monitor product movement to generate funds for them and better allow them to regulate inflation they are obviously creating. They are elected to govern, but not honestly.

I’m flying home from Bangor to Newark to Jacksonville Sunday morning.
I got enough to worry me. Don’t need air traffic control problems.
But I’m in favor of a shutdown
Larry
FAA control towers are pretty important
The FAA did not shut down last so why now? Obama shut down a lot of things that were still running but not the FAA.
I ammost positive that, on some street corner, in one of the thousand or so towns that Ms. Buugig walks along, there shall be that one individual, waiting to show Ms. Buttgig their full attention and love.
