I do not think it is, or was, COVID. It is the high prices, bad food, and the impending recession.
I think the recession started by March 2022.
Yeah, I stopped going to those places long before COVID.
I like Olive Garden. Never had a bad meal there. The reason I stay away is I would gain three pounds every time I went there. They cook everything with lots of butter which is why it tastes so good, but is really fattening. Unlimited Tuscan zapata soups and salads, it’s just hard to portion control. And the deserts....Now I’m hungry....
Those factors exist, but are not the key ones. Seniors are seeing the behavior of Cracker Barrel toward blacks, womyn and LGBTQ+s (as shown in the discrimination lawsuits against Cracka Barrel) and are rising up in proletarian indignation against the restaurant chain! They are demonstrating their solidarity with the working class and against the capitalist dogs running these chains! (/liberal)
Not to mention the price of gas to get there.
We went to CB last week after I successfully avoided it for a year. The wife likes it. What turned me off was pushing their $3+ drinks to go along with a meal that has already gone up 20 to 40%. Then there was the over loud progressive contryish music pounding my ears. Doesnt matter what you say so long as it is loud, fat and just like the other guy. Ill try to extend my gap to more than a year. Did I mention the drma and show when I questioned an item on the bill? Not necessary , it was a simple question that could have been answered with a nearby menu and not a manager.
I think it's a combination of both. The quality of many places are not what they used to be.
That and...Cracker Barrel went gay with their Pride Rocking Chair.
Yes.
Plus I can cook better than I can buy from them.
Absolutely right but includes many other restaurants. A beef tenderloin dinner in our area averages about $45.00, salad not included and not that great. We can buy four very nice tenderloins for about the same amount as one and is delicious.
And seniors going to breakfast at fast food chains — used to be a big deal for koffee klatch daily get togethers — has virtually ceased in my area. Empty dining room until lunch time and even then not so busy.
however, we are making a concerted effort to support local restaurants not chains....
Biden doesn’t care about anyone except his family and Democrat politicians.
Cracker Barrel allows self-contained RVs to park overnight at no cost. (Most of them do.)
Before heading to bed, we have our dinner inside. The prices are are not any higher than most restaurants, and the serving sizes are so large that each one makes two meals.
For a few years not so long ago meal sizes were noticably skimpy. Then, the price was not worth it.
No its the corporate cancer that has embraced the trans gay mentally ill protected class
Big chain restaurants: S#!++y food at inflated prices may have something to do with it as well. A twenty dollar dinner for two is closer to fifty these days. And the food mostly comes out of bags or a freezer to be re-heated.
I put Cracker Barrel and Applebees in the same category....YUCK.!
I AM 83.
I LIVE ON SOC SEC of less than $1500 a month.
MY vehicle insurance has gone UP 20% since Jan.
I do NOT drive even 5,000 miles a year anymore.
BUT cost of UNINSURED DRIVERS is a major part of it all.
ALL THE INVADERS BIDEN HAS INVITED IN HAS TO BE PART OF THIS.
Bad food? Their food is awesome at our local Olive Garden! The few times I’ve been there, even after the pandemic, it’s been pretty full of people!I’ve never been to the Cracker Barrel, but Olive Garden where we live is pretty popular, and has very good food! I’m a senior, and I saw some other seniors there, too.
