The problem for China is that ruthlessness only takes you so far, and they passed that point about 1000 years ago. Ruthlessness won’t, for example, change your geopolitically reality. It won’t cause the Himalayas to get out of the way, or make your army able to march across an ocean.

They think China is going to invade Taiwan. Except China doesn’t have the lift capacity to get more than a few thousand troops there in any significant time.

These deaths, Jones stresses, may be seen not only as a genocide but also as ‘eliticide’ – “targeting the better educated and leadership oriented elements among the Tibetan population.”

I have listened to Zeihan at the behest of a former AF Intel friend, but I am not convinced by his arguments and certainty concerning China’s impending demise. It’s just a feeling but I think what he’s peddling is what US establishment types want and need to hear in order for the US to succeed in derailing the Chinese juggernaut. His demographic analysis makes sense, but my instinct tells me there are significant factors he’s not taking into account in order to reach his prognosis for a Chinese implosion. He sees our influx of immigrants as a positive thing helping off set our own demographic decline, but it’s clear to me that his view is too simplistic and ignores real dangers.
