Turkey's Erdogan says he trusts Russia as much as he trusts the West

ISTANBUL -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he trusts Russia as much he trusts the West.

Explaining his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Erdogan said he had failed to get him to resume the Black Sea grain deal the Kremlin withdrew from in July but had elicited a pledge for Russia to supply 1 million tons of grain to Africa.

“I have no reason not to trust them,” Erdogan said during an interview late Monday with U.S. broadcaster PBS in New York, where he is attending the U.N. General Assembly.

“To the extent the West is reliable, Russia is equally reliable. For the last 50 years, we have been waiting at the doorstep of the EU and, at this moment in time, I trust Russia just as much as I trust the West.”

Turning to the war in Ukraine and his contacts with Putin, Erdogan said it was “quite obvious that this war is going to last a long time” but that the Russian leader was “on the side of ending this war as soon as possible.

“That’s what he said. And I believe his remarks," Erdogan said.

Also, if I’m Erdogan, I’m a little upset about how hard it is for NATO member, Turkey to get F-16s while Zelensky gets them for free.

No one in the world should trust the US. We are a terrible ally. Putin is scum, but I would trust him before I would trust Biden’s team.

EVERYTHING the US administration tells its own citizens is a lie. Of course the Uniparty leadership lies to its allies. Some shortsighted people will disagree. They will say the administration lies about every single thing except what’s really happening in Ukraine.
The Russians generally are telling the truth on US elections, perversions and trans tyranny, new green deal, Iraq, Afghanistan, illegal immigration, Russia, Russia, Russia, Trump, NATO domino expansion, US impeachment, pretty much everything that’s important for me.

Erdogan is a nasty totalitarian. This has been obvious for close to a decade.

He’s also our NATO ally. To me, he and Turkey have BRIChinaS membership written all over them. The smart move for Turkey would be non aligned status.

Erdogan is a typical tyrant from that part of the World. He takes Islam seriously . You can't make something good from something inherently evil.

Debatable.

Yes, they are in NATO.

Whether they are really an ally, and are worthy of such, is another question.

Correct.

This is why Turkey should not be considered for EU membership. Not that I think the EU is all that non-evil, it’s just a different kind of evil.

Erdogan dreams of being Pasha Erdogan if the Great Ottoman Empire v.2.0 while Putin reconstitutes the Savyestki Sayuz.

(Stop trying to make Ottoman Empire 2.0 Happen, Recep. It’s not going to happen.)

A weakened Russia means an ascendent Turkey, a Turkey that wants to resurrect The Ottoman Empire.

“No one in the world should trust the US. We are a terrible ally. Putin is scum, but I would trust him before I would trust Biden’s team.”

It looks like the Africans have taken your advice regarding Niger. The plan of the US and France was to have an African army force their way to Niger’s capital. One problem though, they realized the Africans would just, again, be doing the dirty work of the West, just so the West could again have Niger effectively as a colony again.

...so game over on that part of the world. The only good thing for the West is that Nuland got SPANKED in the process of trying to threaten Niger’s new military government - they called her (empty) bluff.

Joe Biden...look at what you’ve done to this once wonderful country! I won’t say what your punishment should be & that you alone are guilty of it, but whatever punishment there might be for you & certain others...it needs to be applied very liberally.

Neither the government of the U.S. or Russia is trustworthy...

IMHO, the level of tyranny and the accompanying deceit and lawlessness is probably higher in communist America than in communist Russia...
