Luther, fear not, the era of government-run grocery stores may not be as dead and buried as it seems. The city of Chicago — already doing such a terrific job on handling crime, poverty, homelessness, and unemployment — is exploring the possibility of establishing municipally owned grocery stores.
City officials contend that a city-run grocery store would be better because they wouldn’t have to worry about making money. And Mayor Brandon Johnson is enthusiastically embracing the idea...
...
Now, no doubt Chicago’s city-run grocery stores would have the same service, efficiency, and quality that Chicago residents have come to expect from the local government of a city ranked 149th in its financial stability, 67th in its education system, 71st in its health-care system, 80th in its public safety, 129th in the quality of its economy, or, credit where it’s due, 37th in its infrastructure and pollution. (That’s out of 149 U.S. cities.)

“Brandon”
Fitting.
It seems he & Justin are heading down the same path.
Dumbasses.
The pathetic part is that they both have support for their communist ideals.
“a city-run grocery store would be better because they wouldn’t have to worry about making money”
in which case, they could just give everything away for free, which would solve the shop-lifting problem AND robbery wouldn’t an issue either, since their would be no money in the till ... sounds like one of those win-win-win situations to me ...
One pound if butter and one pound of cheese per person per week sounds like a winner to me.
patronage writ large...
LOL, no, no fun allowed...
out the back...
Or the old Soviet Union .
Reminds me of Fred Sanford’s (Sanford and Son) favorite drink. A Champipple. Half Champelle and half Ripple.
whoa, that’s a blast from the past...
Actually, this might be a good idea if done properly. All EBT cards must be process in government centers that only offer generic products (white labe, black writing), that infamous government cheese, and lower-grade cuts of meat. Include only basic juices, milk, and no sodas. No way should a person on either should have a better filled shopping cart than a taxpayer.
The shape Chicago is in now another fire would only improve it.
Cash on Delivery
Food wholesalers & distributors should demand full cash payment before anything is delivered.
Yeah, weird the stuff I remember. But then again, I walked all over the grocery store looking for my sunglasses. They were on top of my ball cap. My cap was on my head.
Everything will just be taken/stolen.
100%!!! 30yrs ago? no problem
what i had for breakfast, well...
To anyone that has ever shopped in a communist grocery store, well, this should be fun.
