Luther, fear not, the era of government-run grocery stores may not be as dead and buried as it seems. The city of Chicago — already doing such a terrific job on handling crime, poverty, homelessness, and unemployment — is exploring the possibility of establishing municipally owned grocery stores.
City officials contend that a city-run grocery store would be better because they wouldn’t have to worry about making money. And Mayor Brandon Johnson is enthusiastically embracing the idea...

Now, no doubt Chicago’s city-run grocery stores would have the same service, efficiency, and quality that Chicago residents have come to expect from the local government of a city ranked 149th in its financial stability, 67th in its education system, 71st in its health-care system, 80th in its public safety, 129th in the quality of its economy, or, credit where it’s due, 37th in its infrastructure and pollution. Add to that of the guberment not paying their bills is who is going to deliver to them in the high crime areas? Will the guberment have to have a fleet of armored delivery truck too?
Who will work for them? Will the employees receive Hazardous Duty pay? Why not just dump loads of groceries in the street? You know lazy employees will not stock the shelves.
Have never seen an empty shelf in any commissary (aka government grocery store) I have been in, over the last 40 years.

A truck with bags of rice is mobbed before they can offload and ditribute to the hungry masses...women scooping up piles of rice off the ground. You get the picture.
Who will deliver the food...Kroger? Not likely.
Hell, Amazon won’t venture into certain parts of “the community”.
And just wait until the illegals have “culturally appropriate” meals delivered to their shelters across the street, by smiling caregivers....

The nice part about a government run grocery store is there are no pigeons in the area and the Cornish hens are really cheap. Do stay away from the “meat” loaf in the food court though.

Except for paying the gas bill, the electric bill, the water bill, the rent on the building, payroll, property taxes, and all that stuff. Other than that they won’t have to worry about making money.

Wait until the city and State “negotiate” (strong-arm) suppliers into discounts and priority deliveries over other stores (and all the kickbacks that go with Chicago politics)!!

Typically Chicago politicians have to get their money laundered through a private business...this will allow one-stop shopping for corruption, greed, money laundering, etc...and controlled by the political crooks! The Mafia would be JEALOUS of this operation!
