On Monday’s broadcast of CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen responded to what action the Biden administration could take to combat rising oil prices by stating that they’ll keep watching the situation, but they expect the prices to “stabilize.”
Co-host Sara Eisen asked, “I’m wondering how you’re thinking about the gas price move, a big jump in the month of August. Crude is back above $90 per barrel. The Saudis are extending the production cuts through the end of the year. Are you looking at taking any action on this front?”
Yellen answered, “Well, the president wants to make sure that gas prices remain affordable for Americans. Americans care a great deal about the price of gas. They’re still down $1.20 off their highs last summer, although they have gone up recently. China’s ended its pandemic lockdowns, and although Chinese growth is slower than expected, China coming back online and the continuation of the production cuts by Saudi Arabia has lifted oil prices somewhat. We’re monitoring the situation very closely. The president has taken action over the last year. Certainly, the releases of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve have been important in holding down oil prices and we’ll continue to monitor that closely.”

Drill you idiots. Just like Jimmy Carter, total incompetence.
You doing that while you're filling your own tank Yellen?
Oh, how comforting - Janet Yellen is going to be “watching” the prices.
Oh. You’re going to “watch the prices.” Is that like back in the 50’s when the govt was watching the rad count rise during the open air nuke tests? Very reassuring. /S.
Yellen be smellin’.
They think everyone with JUMP to EVs ,LOL
“Yellen on Acting to Lower Oil Prices: We’ll Watch Prices, Expect them to ‘Stabilize’”
Yellen on Acting to Lower Oil Prices: We’ll Watch Prices, Expect them to ‘Stabilize’. at about $120/barrel ... maybe higher ...
There, fixed it
“Oh, how comforting - Janet Yellen is going to be “watching” the prices.”
They’re going to “closely monitor” again. Why not have a summit at the White House with breakout sessions? Those always work.
Why is the government involved in energy?
Yellen answered, “Well, the president wants to make sure that gas prices remain affordable for Americans.”
And what would that be? 4 bucks a gallon? Ugly toad fool.
“What the hell does that even mean??”
Exactly what you suspect. It’s meaningless doubletalk.
Janet Yellen appears to have zero qualifications for the jobs that she has held.
Oil prices are transitory. Just like inflation
Oil is sold at auction ...
It means “we arent going to do anything about this. Our hopw is that it stabilizes at these crazy high prices forever so it isn’t going up anymore (win for us) and it forced people to never use a car again (bigger win for us!)”
This admin has all the power to reduce the prices of energy, but they don’t want to. They are enjoying watching us suffer.
Psychopaths all of them.
The US Government will air drop empty five gallon fuel cans and a siphon hoses south of the boarder. Every illegal coming across the board will be required to carry a full five gallon can of gasoline in order to enter the USA. With 3 million illegals each bringing in 5 gallons of gasoline, that would be almost a two month supply. That would be a 17% reduction in the cost of gasoline!
Of course for distribution the corner windshield washers now will also offer fuel fillips while you wait at the traffic light.
This policy lowers gasoline prices and generates a source of income for illegals, a win-win!
Mexican gas I’ve heard is about 70 octane and would ruin most American cars even without the /s
Stabilize at what? $3.50?
Well, it could be worse. Yellen could be actively doing something about oil prices. I know it will never occur to her, but doing nothing is the solution. Just get government out of the way.
