Trump said members of his own party "speak very inarticulately about this subject.
"I watch some of them without the exceptions, et cetera, et cetera," he said, referring to conservatives who don't support abortion exceptions in cases including abortion and rape. "I said, 'Other than certain parts of the country, you can’t — you’re not going to win on this issue. But you will win on this issue when you come up with the right number of weeks."
"Because Democrats don’t want to be radical on the issue, most of them, some do," he continued. "They don’t want to be radical on the issue. They don’t want to kill a baby in the seventh month or the ninth month or after birth. And they’re allowed to do that, and you can’t do that."
In his interview, Trump said "people are starting to think of 15 weeks" as "a number that people are talking about right now" in terms of a federal abortion ban, but said he wouldn't sign such legislation as president.
"No, no," he replied.
He went on to call a six-week ban signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, one of his rivals, "a terrible thing and a terrible mistake."
Trump claimed "the most powerful people that are anti-abortion are okay with" not having a complete and total ban.

You’re absolutely right and anyone other than the Trump cult followers, knows it.
A no exceptions law is asinine. And, I do not believe any state has anything like that on their books. I would favor a fed law that bans any such.
As to what now? Leave the issue to the individual laboratories that are the states.
Lol .
A direct hit with the truth .
In fact , Trump smeared Desantis an Abortion Extremist
while still trying to take credit for the SC ruling .
What a Snake .
The facts are not welcome here by the Cult followers .
Step by step real life rolling it back.
Vs virtue signaling.
What, the liberal media chopping up quotes again?
He’s correct.
Demagoguery is running in a primary on a 100% federal abortion ban. There is 0 chance that will happen. They could barely get Kavanaugh through a Repuke Senate and they only needed 50 votes. Running on this promise is a lie. Also, as a matter of what would actually save more lives...states rights is the solution. Since Roe v Wade was overturned FL, Texas, IA and a number of other states have put on very strong limitations that would not exists if this was done on a federal level.
No one is going to pass a 6 week federal abortion ban. No one. Not Desanctimonius, not Pence. No one. To pretend you are going to do that is very stupid. You’ll get the blow back and in the end you won’t stop even one abortion
And we will deserve it
“This is no longer a federal issue and any candidate for federal office promising more restrictions or less is lying to you.”?
But there’s the rub, isn’t it? For you, me and others that’s the way it should be.
For the Left, their campaigns are….put us back in charge and we’ll make sure it’s codified into federal law forever. And then we’ll expand that law little by little as you give us more and more power.
The Left plays the long con. Even if there are some moderate Democrats that would be opposed to the radical Left, they quietly go along with it because they know it’ll advance the Left’s ability to amass more power and control.
The Right, because of the differences between real Conservatives and the Chamber of Commerce/GOPe/CountryClub types, can’t see past the end of their noses. And they spend their days publicly going after each other.
Trump will lose big.
Ok
So what was the point of overturning Roe V Wade, again, if Trump doesn't care?
the 10-15% extremes of the right...or the left are not MAGA.
MAGA is the 70% middle of the road
Its called political reality. And Trump is a realist. In spades.
Getting my popcorn ready for these comments....
Repeal the 19th amendment.
—> Donald Trump threw pro-life conservatives under the bus and then ran over them. He has made it crystal clear that he is pro-choice, NOT pro-life.
Trump delivered the largest pro life victory in US history.
And it is consistent with the constitution.
