Trump said members of his own party "speak very inarticulately about this subject.
"I watch some of them without the exceptions, et cetera, et cetera," he said, referring to conservatives who don't support abortion exceptions in cases including abortion and rape. "I said, 'Other than certain parts of the country, you can’t — you’re not going to win on this issue. But you will win on this issue when you come up with the right number of weeks."
"Because Democrats don’t want to be radical on the issue, most of them, some do," he continued. "They don’t want to be radical on the issue. They don’t want to kill a baby in the seventh month or the ninth month or after birth. And they’re allowed to do that, and you can’t do that."
In his interview, Trump said "people are starting to think of 15 weeks" as "a number that people are talking about right now" in terms of a federal abortion ban, but said he wouldn't sign such legislation as president.
"No, no," he replied.
He went on to call a six-week ban signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, one of his rivals, "a terrible thing and a terrible mistake."
Trump claimed "the most powerful people that are anti-abortion are okay with" not having a complete and total ban.

SCOTUS ruled that there is no right to an abortion in the constitution. Therefore, that automatically threw it to the states.
However, the US Congress could pass legislation about abortion. The authority then would not be an inherent right to an abortion. The authority would be law based on passed legislation.
That ignores, of course, that the constitution does say there is a right to life that cannot be taken away without conviction for a capital crime by a jury of one’s peers.
Trump is wrong on the ethics of this. He is wrong on God’s wishes.
I think Trump is God’s wish. His other choice is Biden.
Abortion violates God’s will no matter who it is.
Trump keeps saying he believes in abortion in case of rape, incest and life of the mother because Ronald Reagan had the same exceptions. Well that’s right and wrong. As governor of California he was talked into signing a bill by the pro abortion crowd with those “exceptions” and abortions skyrocketed in California. He later said it was the worse mistake he ever made because it had so many loopholes in it. Reagan as president changed his position on abortion, no exceptions for any reason, unless it was to save the life of the mother.

God gives free will no matter who it is.
Trump is playing a game he is not good at… politics.
If he thinks ragging on DeSantis for signing a tough abortion law is good politics then he is trying to appease his enemies at the risk of losing his base.
My thoughts exactly.
And a reminder that trump is just another human being.
“I assume this was if the something were to happen at the federal regulation level.”
A lot of “assumin’” has to be done to interpret what Trump says. It’s always a mystery to me.
It us a trap. It is fully intended to create division amongst Republicans.
As far as morality, it is far more than that.
The taking of a human life should never be ceeded for votes, or appeasement of any populace.
Talk about a slippery slope.
Our society has now devalued human life to savage thinking levels.
This is a hill to die on.
Protecting the most innocent.
Well, it was a simple conversation, continually interrupted by a democrat operative.
