California Gov. Gavin Newsom is eyeing a change to the United States Constitution. The state's legislature on Thursday approved a resolution in support of Newsom's call for a 28th Constitutional amendment, according to the Los Angeles Times. The amendment would enshrine a list of Democratic gun-control policy priorities into federal law.
California is requesting a Constitutional convention to enshrine the amendment. For the amendment to be considered, two-thirds of state legislatures would have to vote in favor of a convention, according to the Times. The proposed "Right to Safety Amendment" would limit legal gun ownership to adults 21 and older, enact universal federal background checks on gun sales, create a mandatory "reasonable waiting period" for gun purchases, and ban the purchase of many forms of semiautomatic rifles. Newsom started touting the idea behind the amendment earlier this summer.

It’s not a constitutional convention, an Article V (See Article V in the US Constitution!) convention is a way around Congress to introduce amendments to the states to be ratified. It’s no more dangerous than if Congress did it. However, it is a way to get amendments to the states that the professional political class in Congress might not like.
So all you need is one branch of the legislature in 17 states to say no and this option is foreclosed. Does anyone see Newsome's fantasy as a likely outcome?
Even better, all you need is one branch of the legislature in 13 states to kill ratification of any amendment a convention produces.
“”The governor claims the new amendment would co-exist with the Second Amendment despite the proposed amendment’s changes to the American legal understanding of gun ownership.””
The “legal understanding” of gun ownership was clearly demonstrated with Kalafornia’s very own confiscation (1999-2000) of *registered* SKS rifles in California.
.
Outcome?
About 17% compliance as I recall as any factual reports of this are buried or deleted.
Another kali registration of “assault weapons” occured in 2018 and had a whopping 5% compliance rate.
And now pretty boie gavin wants the United States to skip a Article V Convention and the US house and senate vote 2/3 majority the way he demands.
Once again we have a clear example of glaring stupidity of progs regarding their inability to see the baseball bat coming at their face at about 100mph.
.
Hint: He's dreaming.
Uhmm, don't You mean declare ALL federal laws null and void re:Firearms.

This is a fabulous idea. Let them convene from all over the country--free buses, and wide-body jets for Lefty celebrities. Make sure there are TV cameras in the convention center to cover all the action, if desired.
Then lock the doors from the outside.
THANK YOU !!!

Fascism:
“A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.”
“”an Article V Convention that his legislature is proposing.””
Geeze, if the dummy is calling for Art 5 he will need to convince 19 States to drop their agenda (there can be only one and all states sign off on the same exact document) just so they can sign onto gavin’s little gun ban temper fit.
Is little gavin up for reelection or something?
Asking because he just signed up for the snowball team.

Gruesome Newsom is ready to take us full commie. NO RIGHTS in this country. No sir. MASA (Make Americans Slaves Again). Use your brain. Tell Gruesome to go diddle himself.
Dude's on par with the Founding Fathers, I tell ya!
Hair Gel Hitler is just as committed to removing law abiding citizens gun rights as Grisham in NM.
There is no way we will ever relinquish our guns, it’s never going to happen.
All these American Marxists will ever accomplish IMO, is a physical confrontation causing mass blood shed.
Since republicans are under cover democrats, newsome’s amendment would probably pass.
They can propose anything they want, but each state gets only one vote as to which proposed amendments are presented to the states, after which 3/4 of the states (38) have to vote to accept them.
