Trump: ‘I never got … the credit that I deserved on COVID

Former President Trump is defending his record on COVID-19, saying he never got the “credit that I deserved” on how he managed the pandemic as president.

“I got a lot of good marks on economy. I got a lot of good marks on a lot of things. Rebuilding the military, getting rid of ISIS, the biggest tax cuts in history,” Trump said in an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” airing Thursday. “I never got, I think, the credit that I deserved on COVID.”

With much of his political base skeptical of coronavirus vaccines, Trump, the front-runner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, has tried to tread carefully when touting the success of his Operation Warp Speed, which developed highly effective and safe vaccines in record time.

That’s what really struck me during the course of this interview. There was no indication whatsoever from Trump that he would do anything differently

That’s why COVID was unleashed in the first place, it was the perfect “No Win” situation for Trump.

My problem is the government favoring mrna over the J&J which was a more traditional vaccine.

And my son and I had the J&J and never got Covid. Every family member who got the mrna...got Covid.

Yes...mrna was totally experimental...and we were the guinea pigs.

“He needs to acknowledge the error”

When will that happen? Most of us try to learn from our mistakes and improve, but it seems that Trump does not.

“I do not hold him accountable in any way for his decision making.”

The buck stops where?

A president never has complete information, but the suspension of the Constitution, which is in effect what he put in motion, should disqualify someone from being voted back in as president again.

The problem is that all other candidates are, if anything, even worse Deep State stooges.

So many people were needlessly ventilated. All too often, it turned out to be a death sentence

You are not correct. Trump never called for the vaccine development—the vaccine was already in development. He may have gotten it to market faster. In part because so many people would not leave their homes until a vaccine was available. That was the only thing that so many people would accept. I know many people in this category.

Trump was in a tough spot, and while I think he did some very good things, there were people who were sabotaging his efforts in order to prevent him from getting credit. Partly, the pandemic became an opportunity to ruin the economic momentum Trump had built in order to remove him in 2020.

Faced with the possibility of millions of Americans dying from COVID, I think Trump was right to move quickly on a vaccine. Unfortunately, the full consequences and dangers of the vaccine were ignored because of political urgency.

Just like with the Steele Dossier and Crossfire Hurricane, Trump got outmaneuvered by devious people who knew how to make everything work inside the wheels of government. The shutdowns and the stimulus payments were not a good idea in retrospect. I believe that Trump got steamrolled by the federal bureaucracy due to his underestimation of the depth of their evilness. To be fair, though, how many really knew the extent of the deviousness of the left.

Exactly. Knowing Trump, he speaks about the process and not the fake vax. Covid could have been unleashed on us now, but it was done then for the reason you cite.

Effectiveness is not questionable—it’s well nigh nonexistent.

The issue on this medicament that was thrust upon the people of the entire world is safety. As in—it’s not at all safe.

We are soooo ripe for another civil war. It is just a shame we own the overwhelming number of firearms in the country

Yes our side has the firearms, but their side is organized. Shut down the internet or do DoS on FR and others and we are individuals against armed and organized groups.

All anyone was doing in that pharma fog of war was guessing.

Equine feces. With the data from the Diamond Princess plus the treatments derived by Didier Raoult, ANYONE with functional understanding of the epidemiology and treatment of respiratory viruses should have known what to do. As the data came in from Uttar Predesh, it should have gone from hydroxychloroquine, Vitamin D, and zinc to ivermectin and those amendments plus saline nasal rinses with povidone iodine.

The fix was known, cheap, effective, proven safe, and widely available off the shelf. In Fauci, Trump picked the wrong guy.

He’s never been used and abused like this—like Big Pharma and its minions did to him. He’s still in denial about the part he ended up playing in vexxine-induced mayhem (widespread injury and death). Hopefully he is at least personally mortified by the part he played. Better would be for him to find some way to begin expressing some kind of remorse.

“he is privy to all the facts, we arent.”

That is a memorable argument I remember from the 1960s, when it was used to justify LBJ’s Vietnam War policy.

In reality Trump is not as evil as Fauci; Trump actually didn’t know all the facts about Covid and the deadly so-called vaccines.

The issue on this medicament that was thrust upon the people of the entire world is safety. As in—it’s not at all safe.

Again, this ie 3+ years after the fact, and at the time, hardly anyone dared to question what the scientists and experts brought into the scene as a 'cure'. 20/20 hindsight will not undo what occurred 3+ years ago. Trump was as clueless as 99% of Americans, and he had to listen to the experts and scientists and drug companies and the politics of the times.

It goes to Trump’s biggest problem, he ends up with bad people around him who are either self serving or giving bad advice. They totally undermined his first term.

Remember he was attacking states that tried to reopen.

Remember he was attacking states that tried to reopen.

Difference being that, Trump was responsible for the entire country, while Kemp and DeSantis were responsible for their states, and in anything went wrong in those states,Trump would get the blame for not acting.
