Former President Trump is defending his record on COVID-19, saying he never got the “credit that I deserved” on how he managed the pandemic as president.
“I got a lot of good marks on economy. I got a lot of good marks on a lot of things. Rebuilding the military, getting rid of ISIS, the biggest tax cuts in history,” Trump said in an interview on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” airing Thursday. “I never got, I think, the credit that I deserved on COVID.”
With much of his political base skeptical of coronavirus vaccines, Trump, the front-runner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, has tried to tread carefully when touting the success of his Operation Warp Speed, which developed highly effective and safe vaccines in record time.

Even if the effectiveness of the vaccine is questionable, it’s very doubtful than anybody else would have gotten the vaccine to be produced in such a short period of time. Democrats are all about the Covid vaccine now, but, at least 90% of the credit for its existence belongs to Trump.
Careful about complaining about credit, where one has plenty to be blamed for as well.
Whining? What part of Covid does he want credit for and what part does he want to now disavow?
Is he sure he wants this credit? Safe and effective? Don’t be shocked to see this in opposition ads from other GOP candidates.
Trump needs to let Covid go. He was Pranked by the Pharma machine. He needs to own it.
and it’s that thought process that allowed the uniparty to take his presidency. the guy hasn’t learned.
A slow response.
Lockdowns.
Pushing a Vax through the system.
Turning the daily briefings into the Daily Donald Show.
Fauci.
Brix.
No...I think he got the credit he deserved.
Trump’s diplomatic accomplishments were dazzling. His economic accomplishments were excellent. His management of Covid was a tragic failure that we are still paying the price for. The fact that he still doesn’t understand that is an excellent argument for nominating someone else.
“I see him and Megyn kissed and made up”
He’s a sucker for leggy blondes, after all.
That’s true. Fauci should have thanked him for allowing Fauci to take over the country. And the Chinese should have thanked him also.
he is a clear liar in this regard
Those GP governors that took a hard stance against Fauci were criticized by Trump. We have the receipts to prove it.
Bump.
Two things- number one: before Trump was elected the Dems were calling it the Trump vaccine and telling everyone to avoid it (Kamala).
Number two- few people will acknowledge that Covid was a weaponized virus, and a vaccine was a weaponized vaccine. Anyone who did get the shot needs to know that they were victimized by the Pharma industry…. TWICE.
Wrong. You cannot judge leaders based on decisions made within complete information. All anyone was doing in that pharma fog of war was guessing. He needs to acknowledge the error, but I do not hold him accountable in any way for his decision making. Coming out against the so-called vaccine at that time was politically impossible. Name your candidate who was against it.
You don’t have one.
He jumped through more hoops than most of us felt needed in order to get medical ships in the harbor, ventilators built and delivered and vaccinations developed and distributed, ALL in record time and THIS is the first time 3 or 4 years that I've had an occasion to articulate my support in THAT regard.
President Trump was then, and is STILL (in MY eyes) a superman
“90% of the credit for its existence belongs to Trump.”
He deserves credit for blowing through the bureaucracy and getting the vaccine done < 1 year. Trump at his best, getting things done even if you are a vax skeptic.
He also deserves blame for the lockdowns, crushing the economy, the massive debt and wasteful payouts, knighting Fauci, and setting the precedent for the biggest government intrusion during peacetime.
Covid and the vaxxes are President Trump’s Achilles Heel.
If he does not realize that he is making his job a lot harder than it needs to be.
