Ford was supposed to be able to build 600,000 electric vehicles (EVs) this year. Then, it wasn’t. The date was pushed back to the end of 2024. Now, Ford may be unable to sell all those EVs, even if it hits that production number. Too few people want an F-150 Lightning, Ford’s electric flagship. (These 15 cars hold their value the longest.) According to Bloomberg, Ford has raised production of the hybrid F-150, a watered-down version that helps save gasoline and the environment. Jim Farley, Ford CEO, says he is surprised by the demand for the hybrid version. He failed to mention that it is a sunsetting of his plan for Ford’s future and aspirations.
The hybrid F-150 is cheaper than the Lightning. Apparently, pickup drivers did not warm to its high price. The hybrid engine is ancient compared to EV engines. Cleverly, Ford did not say the lack of demand for the Lightning may be permanent.

I’m under the impression that “fully electric” vehicles are going the way of the pet rock.
Save the planet. We are doomed otherwise.
“Too few people want an F-150 Lightning...”
People are just not understanding the inherent value of an exploding battery on wheels, I guess.
DUH! Hybrid has unlimited range as long as there’s gasoline. EV not so much.
Watt shocking nooze.🤣👍. Wonder if bowtie and Mopar are having issues as well. Dumbassery writ large. In red ink! But branDUHn (we) won’t let them fail.
It was a dumb idea.
They’ll end up with a bailout.
And get this Ford is building a 8-10 BILLION…no I didn’t mean million…BILLION dollar battery factory down in Central Kentucky off I-65. I pass it about 2x a month.
It’s going to be YUUUUGE.
Pickup truck drivers have more common sense than most.
The Biden Administration probably told them that they’re going to ban ICE vehicles in his second term.
I don’t understand why we didn’t go Hydrogen cells. H2 can be produced by electric plants on coal, solar whatever. That they had figured it could be about as safe as gasoline…. well almost. Wouldn’t have the heavy batteries, rare earth metals etc.
Also could be basically used on modified car technology we use now.
The dummies killed the plug in hybrid F-150.
The hybrid F-150 is indeed a step backwards
Gosh, who wouldn't want to pay $80K+ for a truck that you cannot use to tow anything more than 100 miles (less if it is really hot or cold outside)?
Why thanks. 😂👍.
Ohhhh, that’s OK, the Bribe-em administration will make up any losses by giving them taxpayer dollars.
Plus the big torque advantage of an electric motor-assist from a standing stop.
Both VW and Chrysler are EACH getting $13 billion CDN to build EV battery factories in Canada.
Anyone here think this is a joke? I hope not because it's coming after Team ByeDone STEALS his second term (Obama's fourth).
LOL
Don’t know why everyone always says that.
Cars aren’t giant zeppelins.
