CNN’s Poppy Harlow interviewed New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) on Tuesday and cornered her, reading the New Mexico Constitution to her on-air and asking if her ban on concealed carry violates the Constitution.
Harlow read from Article II, Section 6, of New Mexico’s Constitution, saying, “No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense…No municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms.”
She then asked Grisham, “Are you not in violation of both the U.S. Constitution and your state’s Constitution?”
Grisham responded, “I don’t believe that we are.”
She then claimed that “if that narrow reading of the constitution” were followed, New Mexico “wouldn’t have universal background checks…wouldn’t have a waiting period…wouldn’t have a red flag law…we wouldn’t have prohibitions for straw purchases, none of those would have been deemed constitutional, and today, all of them are.”
Harlow shot back, noting that all the gun controls mentioned by Grisham were adopted prior to the Supreme Court of the United States’ (SCOTUS) decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen (2022), which ruled against New York’s proper cause requirement for concealed carry permit issuance.

It’s surprising that CNN would go after her. Even her own Attorney General, a fellow Democrat, told her he wouldn’t enforce it.
The dems are passionate about taking guns from non-violent, honest citizens all the while deliberately and intentionally leaving them in the hands of violent criminals.
This commie witch tried to see just how far she could go. She doesn’t like the pushback from the normal people.
The dems will try again, and again. The Constitution means nothing to them.

I think this is where we end up when it’s become common to talk about “your truth vs. my truth”, along with accepting the idea around “being trans” and that drag queens around kids is ok.
Words no longer have meaning. There’s no ‘truth’ only subjective opinion. Therefore the law has no meaning. This is so brazen a declaration it’s insulting. Where in the Constitution do our rights have an asterisk for ‘emergencies declared by governors’?
This is clearly well over the line but she just declares it ok because some have a ‘narrow interpretation’ of the 2A. Either it says what it says or the entire contract is worthless......which means so is her authority.
She doesn’t seem to understand she is breaking the law. She is a tyrant that should be facing prison time, this is a ‘high crime’.
Did they say anything about her using the taxpayer’s credit card to pay all her bills ?
Grisham responded, “I don’t believe that we are.”
She’s on the defensive. Anytime someone uses “we” instead of “I”, they know they’re in trouble.
“We” is used to share blame and/or portray a unilateral decision as a group decision.
Since when does NM have universal background checks? They sure didn’t when I lived there, but it’s been a few years.
But she sees her doctor at TST Healthcare….
In other words, it would mean in it's original intent, uninfringed.
Maybe we need to review the constitutionality of the following:
1. Universal background checks
2. Waiting period
3. Red flag law
4. Prohibitions for straw purchases
This bitch is already down her slippery slope. She thinks that because all these other things are legal that whatever she want should be legal as well.
ARREST HER now and INCARCERATE her until a controlling lega authority pops its head up.

They know all it does is fire up the opposition. Of course, in Lindsey’s case it was intentional.
The state AG has said he will not appear and defend, so technially the state will default on the cases.
Grisham is manifestly, and by default, unqualified for the office she thinks she holds. Impeach already!
Precisely, Linda did that at the point of maximum damage. He knew exactly what he was doing and knew there was/is 0 chance of a national abortion ban passing. It was sabotage
Not if it's all planned theater using the usual collectivist formula:
- Issue an outrageous order.
- Have it roundly condemned by all - including media.
- Follow up some time later with a slightly less outrageous order - which now looks "moderate" by comparison.
- Give the new order universal political and media acclaim - including from RINOs.
- Ratchet the whole discussion Leftward.
- Start over again with a new outrageous overreach.
Not true. It means a great deal to them. It means they are not yet able to steamroll their oppressive, Marxist agenda over what remains of America. They are passionately trying to set the stage where the Constitution is irrelevant hence, unnecessary.
And, like everything else, conservatives will respond with, "this shows that in the next election our base must appear!" We're such losers.
