Biden and Trọng agreed to “welcome further cooperation in defense industry and defense trade” between the two countries.

Vietnam upped the U.S.’s diplomatic status to a “comprehensive strategic partner,” the country’s highest tier placing the U.S. on par with China.

Biden said the move represented how much relations have moved on from the “bitter past” of the Vietnam War.

At one time in our history, with 1 or 2 exceptions, it was the best thing that could happen to a country to lose a war to the US.

Yup. The 1959 film "The Mouse that Roars" made of parody of losing to the US

When the tiny nation of Grand Fenwick's only export, a special wine, begins to be produced in California, their entire economy collapses. Things look dire until Prime Minister Rupert Mountjoy (Peter Sellers) points out that no country that has declared war on the United States has ever gone hungry. When Field Marshall Tully Bascombe (Peter Sellers) and the 23 other men in the Grand Fenwick army invade the United States, their plan to immediately surrender unravels.

The Vietnamese hate the Chinese more than the US. Their beef with China goes back several centuries. And almost immediately after Saigon fell, the Chinese invaded, thinking it would be a good time to do it. Vietnam handed them their asses on a platter.

A quite eccentric former co-worker was a nut when it came to the Government. The Bushies were “the Company..” but he hated Trump. He also stole my I Like Ike button.

I’m fine having good relations with Vietnam. Especially since they hate the Chinese. The war is over and there’s no point in keeping old animosities alive. I can put it aside. Those who never served should be able to also.

Baloney. We killed 1.5 million of them. They killed 50,000 of ours. The scumbag politicians lost the war. We won the battles. Get your facts straight, moron.

Vietnam must be nervous about that pre-colonial map of China on XI's office.
Vietnam is dominated by China and China controls lots of Siberia as well.
