Portland’s flailing Mayor, Ted Wheeler, has a new idea, bring in ex-cons who have served decades in prison after being convicted of serious crimes, which can include murder, to patrol the city’s troubled streets. He wants to contract with a San Francisco-based nonprofit, Urban Alchemy (UA) that hires formerly incarcerated convicts to patrol troubled areas to address street-level issues rooted in addiction, mental illness and homelessness. The plan is for Urban Alchemy to deploy outreach patrols in the city center where Portland police have struggled to maintain patrols.
“We want to make sure that that presence, the things we need in place to keep downtown Portland on the path to recovery, is there 24/7,” said Jon Isaacs, the Portland Metro Chamber’s assistant director for public affairs.

raising Arizona
I think Hitler’s Brownshirts 90 years ago beat Hiz Honor to this great idea but that shouldn’t stop Wheeler. The only thing he needs to do is grow a pocket comb mustache and bad haircut and go with the flow. He could even hire some Antifa as plenty of them are ex-cons and already have “outreach” street experience!

The Communist left loves illegal alien’s, domestic criminals etc..
They’ve made that inordinately clear.
Should have been Portland rather than Lahaina.
Go for it.
REMEMBER ALTAMONT!
“Why are we fighting?”
Dying city.
Have you seen “Uncommon Valor”? I suspect that the Lenny character (or at least the casting of Cobb) in “Raising Arizona” may have been inspired by Cobb’s portrayal of Dancer. The two share a fondness for hand grenades.
Did he watch “Clockwork Orange” and use it as inspiration?
