A rare and powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Morocco late Friday night and killed more than 2,000 people in the country's strongest quake in more than a century, according to Morocco's Interior Ministry.

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the quake had 6.8-magnitude when it hit at 11:11 p.m. locally, with shaking that lasted several seconds. Morocco’s National Seismic Monitoring and Alert Network measured it at 7 on the Richter scale.

Adobe type buildings don’t stand up to earthquakes well

Earthquakes kill you by dropping heavy things on you. If you build with heavy dried-mud bricks, expect bad results when the earthquake hits. If that’s your only building material, you’re taking your chances.

I live in the.New Madrid earthquake zone. It won’t take much of an earthquake to bring down all the old brick buildings in the area. Older parts of St. Louis are all brick, because that was the cheapest building material locally available.

Those were not sarcasm quotes, those were to signify the word divers as in the Bible making a point earthquakes happening in places all over the earth that are not usual.

If a place has a history of quakes then it happens usually sooner or later it gets a big quake. That is why I did not find it so unusual they did. California will someday. These places are on the tectonic plates that build up and sometimes slip hard and quick. I do not find it especially unusual as in divers, as if predicting strange things will occur signifying the end of the world. It is just the way the earth goes, could be 500 years since a big quake there or 2000 years but it will happen.

I honestly don’t know what you mean by the four thing?

I don’t object to anyone quoting the bible accurately.

But there have people predicting the end of the world coming according to all these things for hundreds of years.

When it comes it comes. I’m not reading signs and saying it’s coming. It won’t matter if I say so or not. It will happen and that is that.

The missing u in forty is not there because at the stage of the evolution of the English language when the KJV was written, spellings had not always been regularized. To subsequently regularize it to fourty would be to say the Bible was wrong.

And yes, I agree with your last paragraph.

With houses made of mud and stones, collapses during a strong earthquake is expected.

I’m sorry for the families that lost loved ones and I will pray for the dead (Jesus and God don’t care about your particular religion), but this is what happens when you build your buildings out of MUD.

6.8 is not that powerful of an earthquake.

If a 6.8 hits the LA area, the losses will be in the billions. I doubt the loss of life would be similar to the Morocco earthquake. I was in Italy when the Irpinia earthquake hit in 1980. Several thousand people died in the mountains around Naples and many buildings were damaged in Naples

I’m thinking that too. There’s been a swarm of small quakes where Live, one was strong enough to mess my floor boards. I’m thinking we do for the big one any time now.

"....what happens when you build your buildings out of MUD."

.

Yep.
Mud is NOT a sturdy nor resilient building material.

As a child going to Bible study, that verse always confused me.

I would picture something like the below as a place to avoid due to possible earthquakes.
