DeSantis backs Florida surgeon general in urging residents against new Covid vaccines

Covid-19 deaths are inevitable in Florida, Democrats are warning, after rightwing Republican governor Ron DeSantis joined the state’s controversial surgeon general in urging residents to ignore public health advice and avoid new vaccines targeting a resurgence of the virus.

The extraordinary advice came at a feisty press conference in Jacksonville this week that was also marred by an unseemly shouting match between DeSantis, a candidate for his party’s presidential nomination, and a Black Air Force veteran.

Lashing out at what he called the “medical authoritarianism” of mask mandates and other anti-Covid measures, DeSantis accused federal health agencies of being “basically an arm of Big Pharma” as they mulled authorizing the vaccines as early as next week.

“Pharma will make more money if this thing is approved and they start pushing it on everybody,” said DeSantis, touting Florida’s “freedom” from vaccine mandates.

DeSantis is lagging badly in the race for his party’s 2024 nomination, but his campaign has forged a rightwing agenda that has seemed at times to outflank even that of dominant frontrunner Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Dr Joseph Ladapo, the governor’s hand-picked surgeon general and a vaccine skeptic previously found to have manipulated data on vaccine safety, falsely claimed the new booster shots had not been tested on humans, and contained “red flags”.

Earlier this week, the nation’s two leading vaccine manufacturers, Moderna and Pfizer, released data showing a strong response in its updated vaccines against Covid strains fueling a rise in cases across the country.

Governor DeSantis is making an anti-jab stand. Unlike Trump, whose "Operation Warp Speed" unleashed the experimental and harmful COVID jabs upon AMERICANS.

Don't worry. Trumpers will be here shortly to tell us that it's really the opposite that's true and then quickly change the subject to "DeSantis is a Bush/Rove RINO GOPe plant!"

There's a reason Trump is doing any debates and his dismal, indefensible record on Covid is the primary one.

Good to see him lay down a marker that new government demands are a no go in Florida. Can’t wait until he is in the White House to put a stop to this at the national level.

I will be honest

I’m a Desantis supporter

Now , knowing these vaccines really never worked
And after lockdowns that were never necessary , I can say today that I am glad that Desantis was contrary to other governors and other head of states and that he was the first to remove all restrictions in Florida.

But , at the time , operation warp speed , was really an exceptional idea. This was in the early months without knowing the vaccines would fail miserably and watching the news bombard us with constant covid deaths.

The media was hysterical regarding covid

So , I cannot fault trump for operation warped speed. Never will

I just don’t support trump anymore , I moved on.

I don’t think he screwed up on this. It was at the time when we were bombarded by the hysteria coming from the news outlets of constantly being shown body bags due to covid. It what needed to be done by a president at the time of the pandemic.

That’s true

But you also need to be honest and agree that trump did say a lot during the 2016 race that he was going to do and never did

So , I have moved on from trump onto Desantis. Our best bet to winning the presidency is with anyone not named trump.

I’m a realist and nobody is going to change my mind. Trump had 4 years to do something about the border and didn’t.

Each to his own.....would be the better call...

We're much better informed now. And there is a choice between an mrna vaccine and a conventional vaccine.

Anyone still dumb enough to put their faith in Pfizer deserves their miserable fate.

If they need the Meatball to tell them what to do they deserve Biden.

Absolute, almost perfect, nonsense. For those of us who weren't hypochondriacal cowards and didn't give in to craven fear at the beginning of the so-called pandemic, it was quite evident in real time that the "warp speed" vaccines were an atrocious idea. That's why a significant percentage (albeit a minority) never took the vaccine and never, ever will.

Trump got played, big time. If he would simply 'fess up to that fact, that would be one thing. But he never will, insofar that he's a narcissistic asshole who will never, ever admit a mistake.

All that said, Trump ought to be, needs to be, and will be, the GOP nominee in 2024. DeSantis doesn't have clean hands with respect to his response to the pandemic. DeSantis was pushing the dangerous garbage vaccines, to the detriment of people in Florida, with the evidence for this being that some of the very worst monthly COVID kill rates in the entire country were to be seen in Florida after the vaccines were rolled out. That's simply the fact of the matter.

umm, each person is responsible for their own choices. Plenty of harmful things in the world and yet most people avoid them because of using their brain and wisdom, maybe even insight from god come into play.

Anyway, what Trump did was make a way for what the experts (evil doers) said was what they wanted, and media (more evil doers) had people clamoring for.

Trump spoke some times of HCQ and was shot down by the experts and mocked by media.

Trump didn’t create the evil shots which were ALREADY created BEFORE the virus was released. At least that’s what info was stating some years back.

De Santis told Floridians to get jabs too, he isn’t guiltless, he encouraged jabs that caused death and harm to many too.

trump had about 2 years to do some thing about the border and he built a good chunk of wall system.

You conveniently forget “Eddie munster” and “Turtle” and others were thwarting him from getting to work on many things including the wall?

not good of you to say he had 4 years like he had an overwhelming support of those beneath him like Duh-Santis has had and yet duh-santis hasn’t closed up Florida borders from the influx of illegals.

Yes he is now doing things to address it, but for some years he did NOTHING, then he played the enabler game and took illegals and shipped them around helping to spread them around the country.

Duh-Santis should be responsible for any harm that comes to any Citizen from his stupid enabler actions of aiding the enemy’s plans.
