Basic training...me...Fort Knox...1969. In the PX on Saturday night the guys sat around drinking 3.2 beer and weeping quietly. The jukebox was constantly going...playing two different songs. The white guys would play "Don't It Make You Wanna Go Home" by Joe South and the black guys would play "Some Day We'll Be Together" by Diana Ross and the Supremes.

I love both songs and whenever I hear either of them I'm right back at the PX worrying like crazy about Vietnam (I was never ordered there).
