Mask mandates re-emerge amid COVID uptick Several masking requirements have popped up around the country in recent weeks. But despite the uptick in COVID-19 cases, don’t expect another federal mandate.
A few schools, hospitals and businesses scattered around the country have brought back masking requirements in response to spikes in COVID-19 cases in their regions.
Morris Brown College in Atlanta issued a two-week, precautionary mask mandate for its students and employees despite no cases being detected on campus yet. The move was informed by some positive cases detected around the Atlanta University Center, a consortium of four historically Black colleges and universities, including Morris Brown College.
Perhaps the most well-known entity to bring mask requirements back to the workplace is the Hollywood movie studio Lionsgate, which informed staff members this week that they would be required to wear masks at their offices in Santa Monica, Calif.
On top of these measures, employees at Lionsgate will also be required to perform daily self-screenings and to stay home if they are experiencing symptoms or have traveled internationally in the past 10 days.
Public health officials say such moves are warranted if individual schools and companies think it’s the right decision. And in an era of living with COVID, these decisions will come about on a case-by-case basis.
Just as individuals practice mitigation methods based on their own level of risk, singular entities like schools and businesses will practice how they see fit.
Meanwhile, experts are doubtful that governments mask mandates will come back.
Aside from the political issues, the vast majority of the U.S. is under what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers to be low-risk, and the country is entering into this year’s respiratory viral season with new shots to prevent disease, making it better prepared.
Right. It will be just the schools, businesses, retail stores, medical offices, airlines and public transportation, government services (SS, DMV, etc.), stadiums and arenas, ..., that will be implementing mask mandates. But not the government. /s
Because they'll farm out the strong arming to Blackrock et al to make private businesses do it--plasible deniability.
Since we are now living under Marxist rule, expect something even more miserable to be inflicted upon us. Equal misery for all except our overlords.
Bingo.
My local government told them to take a hike last time
Sure. I believe that as much as I expect Biden will stop being a vile, tyrannical, corrupt, grifting schmuck.
They probably did a quick poll and the RATS said “never again”
Yeh. Besides, what does “don’t expect” mean? I “don’t expect” they will confiscate my gas stove.
This would make some people sad.
My governor has already said there’ll be no mask mandates or shutdowns here.
But I know some people in blue states get off to that stuff.
I did see one masked Karen in the grocery store this morning. First time I’ve seen a masker in a while. She appeared to be looking around, making sure people were noticing her.
I thought the COVID vaccines didn’t start until early 2021, outside of anyone in the “test” groups.
This lady looked like someone I would have seen back in Silicon Valley five years ago. Late 30s, early 40s. Thin body type. She had on a cap tightly over her forehead. Wearing one of the more elaborate masks I have seen. Long-sleeve middle-weight jacket zipped up tight and covering her arms down to the palms of her hands. Wearing blue nitrile groves. She had next to no skin exposed (area around her eyes).
Just because the COVID vaccines were not imposed does not mean that they were not tested on people. It appears that the COVID MRNA vaccine may have been developed and (tested?) before the pandemic started.
Tucker Carlson said the same thing in his interview.
I wish I wasn’t reading this in The Hill because their creibility factor is near zero.
...........
True. They’re not conservatives, just globalists. Globalists have much less than zero credibility in these dangerous times, imo.
I’ll keep expecting mandates, sorry Rino Hill.
“Right. It will be just the schools, businesses, retail stores, medical offices, airlines and public transportation, government services (SS, DMV, etc.), stadiums and arenas, ..., that will be implementing mask mandates. But not the government. /s”
I kind of think that’s the way it will happen; virtually every commercial enterprise or engagement will demand mask usage to enter or to transact, and when the gov’t sees fit and sees 60+% mask use, THAT’S when they will come out with the mandate and sweep up another 20% into the web of compliance.
The Hill is disappointing this time.
I predict a lockdown before the election.
Expect the opposite
