No weapon has been more in the public eye in America of late than the AR-15, in large part because of its tragic role in some of this country’s deadliest shootings.
The AR-15 has the dubious distinction of being America’s most popular semi-automatic rifle. I’m more familiar with the gun than most people: I own one. And one thing I know for sure is that this weapon doesn’t belong in the hands of the average civilian.

Keep it at My place.
Give me 30 caliber stuff
So, it appears that lots of people, who should know better.......don’t.
You are missing the point. How can they let you know how deadly their work is, and that they are practically a modern ninja, a tactical Timmy, doing things far beyond YOU?
It’s the “Look how special I am” syndrome.
> I have no doubt that police in Uvalde wish they had had weapons as powerful as the one carried by the shooter
Really? Couldn’t find a few ARs in an hour?
That was also my reaction.
I don’t want an AR-15, but if Biden fills the US with criminals, I will need one.
I am not “average”, was trained to a rather high level of marksmanship by uncle sam.
I choose to maintain my proficiency as a follower of T Jefferson’s writings on tyranny, among other things.
The way the feral government has been behaving in recent years, got a couple more and plenty of ammo. The older I get, the more I suspect I will go out with a lot of empty brass around, and dead alphabet types in front of me.
I might prefer some other semiauto than an AR, but the prices deter that.
Total BS!
I wouldn’t want one, but they don’t want people to have them so that the government can outgun them.
I think they want to ban them more than people want to buy one.
Allow me to re-phrase this: "A police officerAn American should never have to worry about being outgunned by the bad guythe tyrant they’re protecting the public against."
The Boston Massacre did not result from Colonials harassing King George. The Colonials were harassing the armed forces who had been ordered to disarm them. They also harassed the minions who had the audacity to sell them the tax stamps required by the tyrant to do business. People working for the tyrant became the targets of a freedom-loving people.
Sheesh! You have got to be kidding me! They were upset about some guy who owns 5 firearms, and 10,000 rounds of ammo? My friends wouldn't give a piker like that the time of day.
In the run up to Y2K my next-door neighbor told me to come over because he had something to show me. He had dozens of guns of all types and sizes strewn across one of his bedroom's floor. But what he was really proud of was his giant gun safe. It was completely stuffed full of ammo to the point that there was no room for even one of his guns in it. He is a complete nut job.
I told him that he was a piker and if he wanted my respect he needed to buy a dozen or so 25 lb. kegs of smokeless powder, and two or three hundred thousand primers of various sizes. Then he needed to get some presses with dies for handguns and rifles and also shotguns, a few hundred pounds of lead at least, melting pots, and a collection of molds.
He didn't even have any bags of desiccant in his gun safe and it wasn't sealed any way. His store-bought ammo wasn't even in proper Eastern Block spam cans... in ten years the boxer primers and powder in his ammo would all be turning to crap. He hardly ever goes to the range; I bet it has all deteriorated pretty badly by now.
Officer Michael Fanone need to shove his AR-15 up his rectum and pull the trigger.
His opinion is duly noted, and quickly ignored.
Liberals always think they know more about you than you do.....
Why?
Because my socialist-globalist government won’t let me own a real M14.....
