The Kremlin is rushing reinforcements to southern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Oblast. It’s a desperate bid to prevent a major Ukrainian breakthrough along a critical axis.
The reinforcements are from the 76th Guards Air Assault Division, which is “arguably Russia’s best division and is relatively fresh,” according to Rob Lee, an analyst with the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia. The division most recently went on the attack early this year around Kreminna, where the Russians still are sustaining a limited offensive.
That the Russians are redeploying the 76th GAAD speaks to the growing momentum of the Ukrainians’ 2023 counteroffensive, which kicked off with simultaneous armored assaults along several axes in southern and eastern Ukraine.
In just the last couple of weeks, the Ukrainian army and independent air-assault force have liberated Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia, while the Ukrainian marine corps has ejected Russian troops from Urozhaine, 60 miles east of Robotyne in the Mokri Yaly River Valley.
The twin Ukrainian victories bring Kyiv’s forces a few miles closer to their two main objectives in southern Ukraine.
...“According to Russian military doctrine, at least on paper, 76th Division is a part of their strategic reserves, underscoring the seriousness of the move,”
...The implication is obvious. If the Ukrainians can maintain their momentum in the south, they might force the Russians to make a hard choice: to hold in the south or hold in the east. They probably wouldn’t be able to do both.

Can’t be, the trolls said that all VDV is wiped out under Kiev in Spring 2022.
With the progress the Ukrainians are making eastwards they will be in Paris by October.
Cronos, you live in Poland next to the Ukraine, how come you haven’t enlisted in the Ukrainian army? If the Ukraine struggle is truly the greatest cause on Earth as you say it is, it is very cowardly and hypocritical that you have not enlisted to fight the orcs.
You should put up or shut up.
Oh it can’t be. Momentum? Military geniuses here TOLD me in no uncertain terms that Ukraine is finished, its army obliterated. In fact all the women left and married foreigners so the men have nothing to fight for anymore, and we slaughtered them to the last Ukrainian.
In fact they are conscripting toddlers from orphanages.
And those are not even exaggerations.
I have no idea how the war will end, in advance. But luckily we have people here who repeatedly tell us exactly what will and will not happen.
In fact, if tomorrow is Monday, Ukraine will be divided between Poland and Russia. I was told that by a latter day Nostradamus in no uncertain terms.
Also, Vlad will not allow his troops to lose, not ever, and WW3 I think happened already. Col MacGregor told me.
No more Wagner Group helps.
Lindsey Graham will be atop a Tiger Tank, as it rolls victoriously through Red Square, waving his favorite blue-and-yellow flag that Nikki Haley gave him.
Maybe Thoroughly Modern Milley will throw in a transexual brigade as escorts.
Offensives, objectives, ground gains, etc do not win a war. It comes down to killing people and destroying enough of the enemy’s ability to fight.
This war is a long way from over.
Problem is if the Russians are depleted of personnel they can always start pushing buttons. Only takes a couple of fingers to do that from a long way a ways. I was hoping it wouldn’t come to that but if it does, it will kill thousands, possible millions, of people. And could possibly escalate it into the world war adding China, Japan, and most of Europe and the UK. Look for Canada and the US to enter last as we have a bit of a bubble here for a while. All for a civil war no one should have got in to but them.

I thought they deployed the last of their reserves six times already.
Everyone is lying. We’re just going to have to wait till it’s over to see who wins.
“Forbes”?
Yeah ok…
Which trolls?
According to some, Putin should be long dead and Zelensky at the gates of Moscow by now.
According to others, Ukraine and homosexuality should both be eradicated by now.
Because I live in Poland and have dual Polish citizenship (with American) - I don't have Ukrainian citizenship
How come you haven't been called up yet to the Russian army?
Actually you are the one saying it
The Ukrainians struggle against you reds is an important cause but I've never said, nor intimated it to be the "greatest cause on Earth" -- you are the one saying that
It is very cowardly and hypocritical that you have not been called up to fight for Rossiya, why is that?
links please?
For Macgregor we know that he as been consistently wrong
Let me repeat that for you "MacGregor has been consistently wrong and you putinists keep adoring him
Here are the errors MacGregies has made about Ukraine
Feb 27, 2022 “Now the battle in Eastern Ukraine is almost over, the Ukrainian troops are largely surrounded and cut off, now they have a concentration down in the southeast in 30 to 40 thousand , and if they don't vend, surrender the next 24 hours, the Russians will ultimately annihilate them”,
March 2022 "The battle in eastern Ukraine is really almost over, all of the Ukrainian troops there have been largely surrounded and cut off. You have a concentration down in the Southeast of 30 or 40,000 of them, and if they don't surrender in the next 24 hours, I suspect Russia will ultimately annihilate them."
The Siege of Maruipol would last almost three months beyond that 24 hour prediction.
On March 6 on Fox Business, he found an explanation for why it didn't happen.
“At the first five days, the Russian forces, I think, were too gentle. They have now corrected that. So I would say another 10 days this should be completely over.
Over a year later, this clown is still wrong, and you keep listening to him. I have to ask - why?
March 16, 2022
“”The war is really over for the Ukrainians”, “They have been grounded to bits. There’s no question about that”
15 MONTHS after that and it ain't over
Then on 8th of July 2022: "The war, with the exception of Kharkiv and Odessa, as far as the Russians are concerned is largely over. There is no intention to do anything else"
And a few months later Russia was pushed out of Kharkiv and are actually further away from Odessa than they were in July 2022
July 2022 about HIMARS: It will have no effect on the current situation. Our administration does not want to admit that these military actions are long lost.
September 12, 2022
“this war may soon end,” and added: “The Ukrainian army is bled, tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are killed or wounded, Ukraine is really in the balance.”
This was the day after the liberation of Izium, Balakleia and Kupiansk - and before the Ukrainian army liberated Kherson.

Only brain dead snowflakes who support Putin would still believe MacDaddy
Do you have such information about David and could you post it?
That is very true.
The thing is - what are the alternatives for Ukraine and for Ukraine supporters respectively?
For Ukraine - the opinion of the ordinary Ukrainian refugees we helped is that Putin can’t be trusted to just stay at the territory he has grabbed so far - he already claimed all of Zaporizhia and Kherson oblasts. They believe that if they signed an armistice now, then Putin would return in a few years when world attention is elsewhere and he would grab more, returning them to war. So they say this is the only option.
For Ukraine’s supporters -
1. Stop all weapon transfers - ok, well and good, but the Ukrainians are still going to keep fighting. Putin may or may not keep the land he has - but either way the fighting continues and worse - if he gets it, then that opens the door for every other country to grab land by force
2. Send more weapons - again, fraught with danger, but there is a possibility that the Russians overthrew Putin as they overthrew the Tsar in 1917 (that is a possiblity for #1 as well of course)
3. Keep the status quo - which is what we are doing.
