Offensives, objectives, ground gains, etc do not win a war. It comes down to killing people and destroying enough of the enemy’s ability to fight.
This war is a long way from over.
Problem is if the Russians are depleted of personnel they can always start pushing buttons. Only takes a couple of fingers to do that from a long way a ways. I was hoping it wouldn’t come to that but if it does, it will kill thousands, possible millions, of people. And could possibly escalate it into the world war adding China, Japan, and most of Europe and the UK. Look for Canada and the US to enter last as we have a bit of a bubble here for a while. All for a civil war no one should have got in to but them.

Even if there was a breakthrough (which high unlikely), there is ZERO chance Ukraine could maintain any gains. Russia has 750,000 men in reserve.

The 76th Guards (Chernogov Red Banner) Air Assault Division (VDV) has been deployed in the Kremmina region and fighting there for months. The 234th, 237th and maybe the 104th are being redeployed in the Robotnye direction; they serve as a rapid reaction force going from one hot spot to another.
Most of the original VDV regiments were wiped out in the first months of the war, and have now been reconstituted from contract troops and survivors consolidated from other destroyed VDV units. There are several VDV units fighting in Ukraine. The 76th is just one of them.
The 234th Regiment of the 76th is suspected to be the regiment behind the massacres at Bucha.
There is nothing strategic about the division. Perhaps prior to 2022 they were, but now, the unit is just a pale shadow of what it once was on paper.
