The former Navy SEAL who claims to have killed Osama bin Laden was arrested in Texas this week.
Robert J. O’Neill, 47, was booked Wednesday in Frisco and slapped with a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury and a Class C misdemeanor charge of public intoxication, although jail records listed only the assault charge, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Frisco police declined to release more information Friday about the arrest.
O’Neill was released the same day on a $3,500 bond.
O’Neill had been in town to record a podcast at a local cigar lounge.
He did not respond to a request for comment from The Post.
A former SEAL Team 6 member, O’Neill came to wide public prominence after he took credit for firing the shots that killed 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden during a covert raid in 2011.
O’Neill recounted the story in his 2017 memoir “The Operator.”
The United States government has never confirmed or denied the story.
O’Neill’s Texas bust is far from his first run-in with controversy.

Has it occurred to anyone that if O’Neil is taking credit for a kill he didn’t carry out, this protects the hero SEAL who really did it?

Hell Seymore Hersh has a theory that Osama was captured early on… and the “kill” was when we finally decided to execute him. Not my theory but he has actually out out a book to that effect.

Way back in time, SEALs did NOT get tattoos, for example. If you already had an USN anchor tat on your arm, okay. But NO MORE.
Why? They were a covert/clandestine group. We did not have name tags sewn on our camo uniforms. Tats were just blowing your cover. Okay, I have an old USN anchor tat? Okay, I used to be in the Navy. That was IT.
NOBODY wrote books about their VN era experiences, because the tactics were so easy to defeat if you understood them. It would be like a ninja writing a book, “Ten Rules of Ninjas, and How To Catch and Kill Them in the Act.”

All I know is that when I came back from Iraq, they specifically told us not to say anything for 10 years. If telling the world you killed Osama bin Ladin doesn’t violate OPSEC then nothing will. The US government can stop you from telling the truth, but they can’t legally stop you from telling a lie. Even as I post on this thread, they still have a tag on my channel or Whatever you call it -that says loose lips sink ships . And that came from when I was discussing military operations on this very site almost 20 years ago.
