Fox News’s first Republican debate of the 2024 presidential election exceeded expectations and brought in 12.8 million total viewers, according to data released by Nielsen ratings....
Former President Donald Trump, who skipped Wednesday night’s debate to join Tucker Carlson for some counter-programming, claimed early Thursday morning he eclipsed all of television:
“President Donald J. Trump’s blockbuster interview with Tucker Carlson reached over 100 million views on X less than 4 hours after premiering on the platform,” read a release from his campaign PAC, ....
Of course, that’s not the whole story as “views” on Twitter are not remotely comparable to cable news viewers monitored by Nielsen. Twitter’s view count includes any person (or bot) who simply scrolls past the tweet.

Exceeding expectations is no big deal if the expectations are low.
12.8 million total viewers is pathetic.
Another big Trump mistake we were told. I didn’t watch the debate but all I heard that was news worthy were the reports of RdS lame attempt at smiling.
12.5 Million viewers?
LOL.
Tucker and Trump pulled in 236 Million so far.
100 million vs 12.? million...
Yeah, FoxNews wins... a doggie biscuit.
Sounds like some good ratings for the GOP candidates.
Did any more moderate or undecided voters, like what they saw, compared to Biden and Democrats? Did it move any such voters to consider voting for Republicans? Let’s hope some positive impressions were created.
Mediaite grasping for straws
What is the difference??? Liar, liar, pants on fire.
And over a hundred million to the Carlson/Trump interview.
The first Republican primary debate in Detroit 2016 also hosted by Fox, saw the highest rated non-sports cable broadcast ever, drawing in about 24 million viewers.
What were the “expectations” because they’re down almost 50% from 2015 (24 mil)
“12.8 million total viewers”
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH!!!!!
They lost their collective arses on it.
Everyone involved came out worse because if it.
The Twitter numbers don’t count the people like me who watched it on YouTube where bloggers were simulcasting it with commentary. That would probably account for several more million views. Worldwide it was probably about 300 million.
Still spreading your crapola I see.
Well, twitter counts it as a view if someone sees a tweet with the video, even if they don’t watch even 1 second of the video. So it’s really a view of the tweet containing the video. Not necessarily a view of the video itself.
i really don’t believe it was that low...i took to X for 5 seconds....to contribute to trump’s phony numbers
And Nielsen counts it as a bonafide “audience” if one watches for 5 minutes.
