“You all signed a pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee. If former President Trump is convicted in a court of law, would you still support him as your party’s choice? Please raise your hand if you would,” Bret Baier asked the eight candidates on the stage.
Anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswamy was the first candidate to raise his hand, followed by several others including former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum — an action which prompted cheers.
DeSantis could be seen glancing over toward Ramaswamy’s side of the debate stage and proceeded to raise his hand after four of his challengers already did. At that point, former Vice President Mike Pence raised his hand, followed by a hesitant former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Hutchinson did not raise his hand.
Every candidate on stage except for Asa Hutchinson says that they would support Donald Trump in the general election, even if he was "convicted in a court of law."

“WOW – Ron had to check out the rest of the stage to decide whether or not to raise his hand. Pathetic!” Trump War Room exclaimed as others made similar observations.

Viek is a little snot nosed punk. They were all pigmies.
Absolutely Pathetic tone death response by the Bland Meatball.
Shows he is not a leader. But a follower.
Christie slowly raised his hand half way then slyly shook his head back and forth
For a small punk, he knocked Christie out cold.
I expect nothing less from that a-hole.
Wasn’t watching don’t care. I want Trump and then Byron Donalds, Younklin or Noem.
I'll add that the Constitution defines who is eligible to run for President and no where in those qualifications is the State mentioned. The States run the mechanics of our federal elections and that is where it stops.
How did Judas Pence react?
I didn’t recognize Pence without the fly on his head.
Yes and as for calling them "Trumpets", I'd expect that from a 13 year old.
I refrain from bashing any of the candidates, I leave that up to the democrats and their compliant press. However, I will make an exception for Christie. Yes, he is an a-hole who I despise.
LOL !
I’m warming up to Noem.
One would think that a man who wrote a book on Courage, and promoted himself as a Special Eighth Day Creation Warrior would not have had to look around and get the permission of fellow debaters to know what to do.

Well said, odawg!
Agreed.
The States run the mechanics of our federal elections and that is where it stops.
Different issue, but part of those mechanics, faithless electors, could essentially act much the same as being kicked off the ballot.
CA presently requires its electors to conform with the wishes of its voters. It appears federal law at the moment has decided that electors of some western states are not so bound.
Nonetheless, who among us doesn't believe Gavin Newsome et al would prefer to run against anyone but Trump - that his global supporters would do everything possible in that regard to change state laws prior to the election, or at the least influence its electors after the votes are in?
In the event of the latter, they might be able to point to last-minute post-election convictions that were "so outrageous as to support any breach of its laws".
overall, these debates are nothing but a meaningless clown-car side-show,
****************
I support the clown car debates, even though I’m not wasting time watching them. It’s a good reminder of how pathetic the Republican Party is.
Yeah......can’t wait for 2028.(sarcasm)
“It’s a good reminder of how pathetic the Republican Party is.”
well, there is that ...
Not sure that’s a bad thing for a state like CA.
No chance in hell he can get those EVs anyway, and imagine the shock average people who don’t pay attention to politics will get when they see no republican on the presidential ballot.
That might just wake a lot of them up.
This ought to sink him. He looks around to which way the wind is blowing and then decides. That’s how he will govern. See which way the political winds seem to be blowing and go along. That works for Florida where there’s a strong conservative legislature. But not in Washington. He’ll screw conservatives the first chance he gets.
