DeSantis Looks Around After Candidates Asked if They Would Support Trump if ‘Convicted in Court of Law’

Republican candidates revealed Wednesday night if they would support former President Donald Trump if he were “convicted in a court of law,” with some delaying raising their hand — including Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who looked around first — and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson standing as the only individual who refused to make that pledge.

“You all signed a pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee. If former President Trump is convicted in a court of law, would you still support him as your party’s choice? Please raise your hand if you would,” Bret Baier asked the eight candidates on the stage.

Anti-woke businessman Vivek Ramaswamy was the first candidate to raise his hand, followed by several others including former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum — an action which prompted cheers.

DeSantis could be seen glancing over toward Ramaswamy’s side of the debate stage and proceeded to raise his hand after four of his challengers already did. At that point, former Vice President Mike Pence raised his hand, followed by a hesitant former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Hutchinson did not raise his hand.

Every candidate on stage except for Asa Hutchinson says that they would support Donald Trump in the general election, even if he was "convicted in a court of law."

“WOW – Ron had to check out the rest of the stage to decide whether or not to raise his hand. Pathetic!” Trump War Room exclaimed as others made similar observations.

DeSantis did not gain ground, he was listless. Vivek will gain ground. Scott will lose ground. Christie will remain at 2%-3%.

Ron checked for raising his hand on Ukraine funding. Only Vivek raised his arm on that one, then Ron looked around, and meekly did a “so-so” with his hand, very low.

Ron obviously doesn't know what he believes, in his core.

"Ron obviously doesn't know what he believes, in his core."

Sock puppet heads only have room for a hand, not a brain.

Trump or nothing.

Like a watch glance moment. Indecisive, not bold, unsure of his beliefs, timid. A horrible moment for DeSantis.

And Vivek raised his hand the highest. I guess that means a lot.

Trump is the only candidate standing between us and Deep State.

Trump won’t be on many state ballots. It’s almost a done deal with Dem run state legislatures like California. Sadly many Republicans will only offer lip service to fight it, but behind the scenes they’ll torpedo any real effort, just as they had in the past.

Will any Democrat be asked this question: If President Biden is convicted in a court of law, would you still support him as your party’s choice?

Of course not.

As it reads here, only an easily intimidated individual would answer the question on its face.

"Convicted of what?"
"By which court, state or federal and in which jurisdiction"?
"Do I or my legal advisors agree with the conviction?"
"Is it being aggressively appealed and, if so, do I or my legal advisors believe there is a good chance it will be overturned?"

Just to name a few off the top of my head>

It was a question that assumed convictions of Trump. No one should have raised his hand. Both moderators really sucked.

Here's a better one:
If President Biden was in a nursing home would you still support him as your party's choice?

AGREED!! Climate change and abortion were the 2 and 3 questions??? They should have had 6 topics, no moderators, just time keepers. Everyone gets 2 minutes then your mike is cut. During that time everyone elses mic is OFF. If you want to address someone use your time, none of this fake back and forth.

Not significant in light of his stating a few weeks ago that he would PARDON Trump.

The article quotes the question and the word "if" was in the question.

The key words are, "If convicted in a Court of Law." This farce they have can not in any form be considered a "Court of Law". They do have the guns to back them up in Law Enforcement and the guns of FBI Agents. They did not come into Power as the result of a Legal, Honest Election. Neither did Castro, nor the Soviet Union. But both murdered lots of people through their Court Systems.

The facts of the matter are: President has committed no criminal act. His only crime was running for President against Hillary Roddam Clinton and defeating her. For that, the Left says he must die. They have used outright lies and perjured testimony. Every American should be outraged and ashamed by this but they don't GAF. Because these same tactics can and will be used against them when President Trump is disposed of.
