Californians were forced to climb trees to escape dangerous floodwaters and mudslides sweeping through the state on Sunday.
A flash flood hit Seven Oaks in the San Bernardino Mountains bringing down the Santa Ana bridge and leaving residents sheltering in the trees.
LA and the surrounding area has been battered by Tropical Storm Hilary's record rain levels and strong winds that have brought down trees and power lines and flooded roads.
School closures across the city and Palm Springs have been announced for Monday as the storm raged on.
The National Weather Service continued to warn of life-threatening flooding from heavy rain in western LA County and eastern Ventura County on Sunday night.
California is enduring devastating floods and dangerously strong winds, as well as a 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Ventura County which hit on Sunday afternoon.

It was a rain delay at best 1 hour school delay.
I literally just walked down to the beach from my house and the rain is just a mist. Barely anyone felt the earthquake. Everything is fine. The fear mongering is just like the covid thing.
when will we see a reporter braving the elements of a disastrous calamity cause by climate change reporting in a row boat while a local walks across the screen in his rain boots.

Sounds like the Hurricane story was hyped up as a distraction.

They were predicting a lot of rain for Palm Springs area. Wonder how they made out.
How much is a lot of rain in the desert? Infrastructure is seldom set up to handle elements rarely seen. How much snow removal equipment do you suppose Florida has?
Palm Springs daily rainfall 2.64” ... amounts of 4-6 in around San Gabriel Mtns. Death Valley had about an inch of rain and temperatures more than 30 deg below normal for the day (70s instead of 110). Tonopah NV high temp was 59F, probably an all-time record low for August.

Yea chatted with an old friend in San Diego, she said it was odd for the rain in August but no different than winter rains and the wind was blowing but not strong.
