Earlier this week Texas grid operator ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) asked residents to reduce energy usage amid a sweltering heat wave to avoid rolling blackouts.
ERCOT manages electric power to more than 26 million Texas customers and represents 90% of the state’s electric load, according to the company.
Temperatures soared to 115+ degrees with the heat index in parts of Texas on Thursday amid an excessive heat warning.
ERCOT issued the voluntary conservation notice due to extreme temperatures, forecasted high demand and lower reserves due to low wind generation.

The wind turbines aren’t producing enough energy.
Texas electricity prices surged 6,000% and are climbing toward the $5,000 price cap, according to data from ERCOT.
...
Spot electricity prices jumped to $4,750 per megawatt-hour Thursday afternoon from the average of $75 on Wednesday afternoon, according to data from grid operator Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT)
...
ERCOT asked customers to take the following steps to cut electricity use:
Raise thermostats by a degree or two.
Avoid using large appliances i.e., washer/dryer etc.
Turn off and unplug non-essential lights and appliances.
Set pool pumps to run early morning or overnight; shut off during peak hours.
Commercial Businesses: Turn off any lights an office equipment when space not in use.
Commercial Businesses: Turn off air-conditioning outside of business hours
I guess this is what Texas voted for.
Welcome to the Green New Deal!
Enjoy the suck.
wind energy blows
Sure doesn’t sound like a red state.
The RINO’s in Texas sure did a great job with the wind power scam.
Did they think all the hot air that comes out of their mouths impeaching Ken Paxton would create enough power?
You will not get Grid electricity and you will be happy!
“I guess this is what Texas voted for.”
The issue with wind power is that at extreme heat or extreme cold, wind speed tends to drop down.
So you have an energy source that tends to zero when you need it most.
Brilliant !
Both Texas and CA are heavily dependent on wind power. Regardless of the ideology behind it, the effect on electricity generation is the same.
Wind Power isn’t Conservative period.
It was forced upon us under the fed green agenda.
Even the Deep State fraud is bigger in Texas!
You mean to tell me all those cock-eyed ceiling fans spread out all over God’s Blessed Texas are useless as mammary glands on a bull? Damn, they destroy the scenery and everything. What the hell were you idiots that put them up thinking?
At this moment, Texas is getting 15.7% or its power from Solar, 11.2% from wind, 52.3% from natural gas, and 14.1% from coal.
It worked exactly as they planned.....they got their lobbyist contacts and campaign contributions. All other factors be damned
MORONS.
Oil rich TEXAS succumbed to GREEN ENERGY.
The only way transient windpower and solar can work acceptable at all in grid systems, is to have them -when they are working - send their energy to a storage system, that tye larger grid can then use in the overall system. Something that should not be counted as normal generating capacity. Should only be considered as potential extra capacity that can’t be counted on, at best.
Texas MAGA Republicans must have been asleep when the utility was investing in green energy rather than nuclear power. Georgia, supposedly under woke Republican leadership, invested in nuclear power and is now benefiting from the opening of a big nuclear plant.
Texas isn’t close to going down on power, they have 6223 MW in reserve that could be put on and actually solar is doing better than wind. Solar of course is no use when the sun goes down but Natural Gas ramps up to replace it
The wind this summer, especially in these high pressure dome events such as now, has been zilch, zippo, nada, none. Last Sunday my large pond was smooth as glass. There was not even an hint of breeze. I checked with a feather and dust. Perfectly calm and windless. Today there is hardly a leaf stirring. The air is not moving very much at all.
These climate weenies are driving us into the dark ages.
The wind turbines were polluting the land around Amarillo in 2016 long before Biden came into power. It was a decision made in Texas years ago and politicians there were in majority Republican.
They took $$$$ from someone IMHO maybe they need impeachment instead of Mr. Paxton?
