Germany is debating whether to ban the far-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD) as the party surges to 21 per cent in the polls, amid warnings from intelligence officials that its members are becoming increasingly extreme.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German president, warned in a speech to the country’s domestic intelligence agency that “we all have it in our hands to put those who despise our democracy in their place”.

“democracy”
What is “far-right” about this party? If anything, they’re like our GOP.
If you remove the ability for people to choose their ruler, you encite civil war.
“Far right” ie, anyone who opposes communist left.
The collective West is turning into an inter-connected series of banana republics.
First BananaCanada, then the United States of Banana and now Die Bananerepublik Deutschland...

Sounds just like democrats.
Krauts are going to ban thoughts…
Interesting. I wonder if it would just create more of those original thoughts.
“Democracy” appears to mean something very different to the Left than “the people decide how their society is to be”.
Stasi gonna Stasi
They’re “far-right” because they want to preserve their culture and race from Sub-Saharan Africans and Middle Eastern Muslims.
Nothing extremist about that. They're like the MAGA wing in the GOP. Except they are probably more liberal than us. I bet they are environmentally friendly so they are pro-EVs and the like.
Tucker Carlson interviewed Charles Haywood.
Haywood’s looked closely at the Spanish civil War and the Finnish civil War, and his analysis is that when the left starts to legally prohibit the Right from ever gaining political power, that’s the typical trigger for a civil war military conflict.

The only "western" nation that appears to be doing well is Israel. But even there, Bibi is having trouble dealing with the far left.
The afD is neither “far right” nor “extreme”. What they are increasingly is a threat to the Establishment.
I disagree. We're too comfortable so nothing will happen.
It would have to be something where the government decides to ban fertilizers and we all end up starving.
Ever notice the bans are exclusively “right” and never “left”?
Nazi party was a “left” party; nationalist owned press, industry, suppression of individual rights. There was nothing “right wing” or even close. It’s a line; not a circle. Extreme right is anarchy, and chaos
Left is communism, socialism and the collective
Prussian Bureaucracy, Marxism, Nazism, and now banning political parties that arise in response to the tyranny and incompetence of the ruling party.
Germany is an abysmal failure when it comes to ideas about government. They should stick to cars, highways, sausages, beer, cuckoo clocks, and of course... further refining their expertise in the science of obsessive compulsive disorder.
Seems like Germany is going back to their Nazi roots. Any expat that lives there is a simp if you ask me.
