Trump megadonors sit on the sidelines in 2024 presidential race as the first GOP debate looms

Roughly three-quarters of the individuals who contributed $50,000 or more to the previous Trump super PACs have not donated so far to super PACs supporting any individual Republican candidates – underscoring how much the GOP presidential primary remains frozen in place. Some of the wealthy people who once supported Trump remain reluctant to back his third bid for White House as the former president confronts three criminal indictments. But they also haven’t committed to another GOP contender at this stage in the campaign.

“People like to give their money to winners,” said Eric Levine, a GOP fundraiser in New York who opposes Trump’s candidacy and views the large GOP field as too unwieldy. “There is a lot of concern that we have too many people in the non-Trump lane. We’d really like to see it narrow down.”

They are mad that nobody can beat Trump. Will they come groveling back to him when they realize never trumping is a loser’s proposition?

How are we ever going to win the “erection” with our “mega donors” sitting on the sidelines? You can’t buy the U.S. Government without money. Lots of money.

Wait till they hold a “debate” w/o Trump and no one watches.

Potential Trump replacements need to round out their platforms and prepare to answer questions calmly and effectively.

Don’t attack a competitor. Let your competitors get into fights and take themselves out of the running.

Present yourself in a positive manner in the coming primary battles.

Yeah, what happened to Trump? 2023 Donald seems like a huge puss. 2015 Donald Trump would have stormed onto that debate stage and called Jeb Bush a loser. I miss 2015 Donald, the current version feels weak and fragile.

“Wait till they hold a “debate” w/o Trump and no one watches.”

People will watch the debates because Republicans need a Trump alternative. Our leading man is under ceaseless lawfare attack, which might see him incarcerated.

Trump would be wise to shun the debates as they offer no upside for him.

The Republican Party will not be the ones to solve our problems.

because Republicans need a Trump alternative

They absolutley do need an option. There is just one little problem with this theory you genius's haven't figured out yet. No one of all the above is an acceptable alternative and until you find someone with Trump's prowess, you are stuck with Trump. A lot of folks are really good with that. I am. Until a great alternative shows up. So far, they are all losers.

I will probably watch the first one just for laughs. Just like people can’t help watching a train wreck. I want to see these jokers embarrassing themselves.

Like I said. None of the alternatives are actual options, so he needn't bother.

I know of no human being who has ever endured as many legal challenges as Trump.

Republicans aren’t as organized as Democrats. Republicans include: social conservatives, economic libertarians and populists, among others. Uniting all these people is something of a trick.

As to Trump’s megadonors, I don’t know that there are any. Trump relies on MAGA donors, not megadonors. Thousands, even millions of small donors. In 2016, Trump’s vast army - much of which was “under the radar” - propelled him to victory in the key states determining that year’s outcome. In 2020, not so much. The polls had Trump down by 7 points, but Trump rallied his army, both seen and unseen, and lost by only four points. More significantly, he lost by only point in each of the three states that made the difference.

More precisely, Trump lost by 4.5 points in the popular vote, while the Republican congressional candidates lost by 3.1 points. If Trump had lost by 3.1 points in the popular vote, he would have been re-elected President. Unfortunately, the Republicans weren’t very united that year. The Republicans mostly came together in 2016, and didn’t come together enough in 2020.

Conservatives are individualists, Liberals are collectivists. Conservatives have their own lives, and families to take care of, and see government as just a necessary evil. Liberals see government as the solution for all of the world's problems and they center their lives around it.

Hi df

The other prefer to be called progressive socialists nowadays.

Old fashioned liberals, you could say, were for the little guy. For example, to protect the consumer from unfair trade practices. But, this was mostly within the democratic capitalist system. Think Harry Truman. Also, those guys were anti-communist. Those were kind of the happy days in America, when we shared most values across the two parties.
