The ultimate goal is government control of housing.

Rent control on a federal scale.

Results will be more homeless, higher rents, less housing for marginal incomes, more abandoned buildings, oh and higher taxes.

What if we evicted and deported 10% of the nation’s illegals? How many homes and rentals would suddenly become available and then prices drop because there is less demand?

Before the critics comment, the 10% is an arbitrary number. The point is on what is causing the increase in demand.

And although I am generally against gov. regulation, it does feel there are way too many single family homes for rent and way to many apartments that are owned by larger conglomerates. I’m sure the idea has historically been floated before but what are the pros and cons of capping the amount of properties a business can own?

A good chunk of rent is diversity tax. Want to live away from blacks? It’s going to cost more. #diversitytax

Why would anyone want to be a landlord?

Just announce a moratorium on building rental properties, why don’t they?

It’s the fascist government gobbling up another big chunk of the economy. They’ve done such a bang up job with student loans and health care

Well, The Government controls everything else. The Government controls the Educational System. The Government controls the Legal System. The Government controls the Medical Profession. The Government controls the Transportation System. The Government controls the Broadcasting System.
And the government is working around the clock 7 days a week on getting control of the food producing system. It won’t be long before every aspect of your life will be controlled by a Governmental Goon in Washington, D.C. Thanks to the people.

No. We should not give an inch on anything related to private property. We need to get off our lazy butts and swing the pendulum the opposite direction. Eliminate property taxes so we don’t pay rent to government. Reduce and/or eliminate zoning laws that constrain what you do with and on your property.

These commies want you to own nothing and be happy about it. It is antithetical to being American. This is the stuff revolutions are fought. It fundamentally affects the most basic things in life: your shelter. Oh, and by the way, rent control never works. It doesn’t solve a single problem.

Have heard similar stories.

Some relatives are in commercial property management, they would never get into renting homes.

Me and my next door neighbor have 4 empty bedrooms between us. We just don’t want to take our chances on even a good tenant moving in.

*What if we evicted and deported 10% of the nation’s illegals? How many homes and rentals would suddenly become available and then prices drop because there is less demand?*
Mandate that every studio and one-bedroom apartment house 2 people sharing the same bed. Market forces will bring the rents down and plus they’ll be awhile lot happier! Not me. I prefer to remain miserable.

“Reduce and/or eliminate zoning laws that constrain what you do with and on your property.”

The government owns the surrounding roads. If your property is allocated two motor vehicle access permissions you’ll have a hard time renting our three apartments.

Zoning density is related to the traffic bearing capability of the roads.

The government often owns the local sewer and water systems.

I wnder if the public will ever discover hat:

The government can not control global warming.

The government can not control the economy.

Both are governed by natural forces that are as unrelenting as gravity.

Both, like gravity, when not understood and tampered with result in severe damage.

I will NEVER understand how same people who aspire to leave the parental home in pursuit of independence (I know some go back- but beside the point) then turn around and want a government that makes every decision for them

This is a political PR piece written by neo-Marxist Vietnamese “public policy” loon who is behind the failed Portland and now St. Paul, MN “rent stabilization” policy. A policy which has DRIVEN people out of their govt. subsidized dwellings, creating “opening” for the FHFA to NOT finance any more!!

The LIE in this article is huge. Rents stablize to economies local and other— NOT the other way around. Fixing rents like the many still post WWII NYC apt. rent controlled, forcing “market” renters out of the local market. Tranferable rental units at the rental rate? Landlords who know about this speak up. It solves NOTHING.

A scene from Dr. Zhivago comes to mind— Communist faggotry indeed, breaking up an owned formerly titled property to house a ghetto of slobs— all Party connected and visited by wet raincoat Sergei (Alec Guinness) the “Residence Committee” Living space for 13 families.... INCREDIBLE and true Communist agenda:

“Reduce and/or eliminate zoning laws”

One hundred years ago mortgages were typically limited to 50% of property value.

Why, because property might easily become less valuable.

Circa 1960 a man wanted to get a mortgage on a South End Boston townhouse. The man was told the bank lost money in the South End in the depression. The man told the banker the depression was about thirty years ago. The banker said his Boston bank lost money in the depression of the early 1870s.

Zoning makes high percentage mortgages possible.

zoning <-> middle class
