Tuberville says Ukraine can’t win war: ‘It’s a junior high team playing a college team’
The Hill ^ | 08/08/2023 | SARAH FORTINSKY

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) said Monday he did not think Ukraine could win the war against Russia and compared Ukraine’s efforts to a junior high team trying to defeat a college team in a hypothetical sports match.

In an interview with Fox News’s Laura Ingraham on Monday night, Tuberville touted his record voting against funding for Ukraine and said that, while he supported the country’s efforts over Russia, he thought Ukraine was outmatched and that no amount of funding would change that.

You'll wait a long time.

This phony number is being retailed by partisan hacks claiming to source the figure from social media posts of all things. AKA tweets.

That sounds like the setup for a joke, but it's actually what this is based on. Trolls and bots post fake obituary reports on twitter, and then other trolls (and doubtless IC related psyop accounts) pretend to count each tweet as evidence of Ruzzian losses. Utter, complete, pure garbage.

--- "You'll wait a long time."

You know, I rather regularly cite my sources and "show my work" in comments made on a range of subjects. When an assertion is made by someone else without a citation or reference, I often ask for such a citation or reference.

That seems to end the "give and take" with many Freepers who assert but simply refuse to cite sources.

In one or two instances, some play the competing sources game which allows one to dive deeper into things, and at the end of such few -- very -- exchanges, ad hominem is the last gambit.

Is it so unusual to ask someone who asserts anything to cite a source? This is of course a rhetorical question because I am sure we both would answer the same way.

Kudos on your "about" which recommends Hayek, Smith and many of our founding fathers.

If the query I lodged in this thread is answered, I will "cc" you, just for the informational value of perhaps getting a citation. Best wishes.

But but but we’ve been assured that Russia is on the cusp of reoccupying all of Eastern Europe at the hands of Putstalin. Its slow progress is just a feint. When NATO lets its guard down the carefully concealed crack million man army will swoop in and the Hammer and Sickle will fly in Budapest, Krakow and Prague! To avoid this the Zeepers (from the safety of their keyboards) are willing to sacrifice Ukrainians to the last 80 year old Volksturmer.

I don’t understand anyone falling for anything as absurd as Ukraine having the ability to defeat Russia even as Russia has shown its no military juggernaut

Ukraine is the country to was tied to impeaching Trump. it has been the way to enrich corrupt politicians. It pushes for gay marriage during the middle of a war.

The same media that lied about Covid, the elections, global warming, and pushes for the fundamental transformation of society is all on board with Ukraine.

Why exactly am I supposed to want Ukraine to "win".

They should have taken the win of no war and let Russia have the Russian speaking parts of Ukraine. Now Russia will get the Russian speaking parts of Ukraine with all the young Ukrainian men dead and the country in ruins.

We have really shown Putin a thing or two!

What does winning the war mean?

I can understand Russia would win if they occupy Ukrainian territory, and or annex Ukrainian territory.

But Ukraine is not going to occupy and annex Russia, so how do we define victory in this conflict from Ukraine point of view?

‘It’s a junior high team playing a college team’

Maybe they should have picked a different analogy. Years back I was on a Junior High aged soccer team that played a women's college soccer team in a friendly scrimmage. The game ended early as it was a complete blow out where we were scoring goals at will and shutting them out.

It’s amazing how this happens, even today and every day after this, someone on FR will post an article of Ukraine blowing up a Russian tank, helicopter, ship, etc., is a sure sign of Russia falling apart and Ukraine on the verge of victory.

Meanwhile Ukrainians are getting slaughtered, in a war they are not equipped and have no real chance of winning, all for what ??

It’s tragic what’s happening.

The keyboard commanders, the usual suspects here, may actually be government operatives pushing their scam that steals billions in taxpayer dollars. They are the Lindsay Graham types. In the bag for the MIC and their contractors. It’s a racket.

The conflict is clearly over NATO’s encroachment into Russia’s backyard. Look where the battle lines are right now. The world plainly sees this now. Russia could level Kyiv if it wanted to.

uh you can’t win by broadcasting your strategy - we heard about the counteroffensive for months. this is how Dems think war is waged. DJT rolled up ISIS before people even knew what was going on. ahem.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The freaking morons who vote for Democrats are so stuck on STUPID that trying to reason with them is a complete waste of time. We all know that eventually it’s going to take a more confrontational approach to effectively deal with that level of ignorance.

If Biden had half a brain and a modicum of common sense, he would have negotiated an end of that war long ago. Both leaders have proved their point.

According to Scott Ritter (former weapons inspector), Douglas McGregor, Brian Berletic, etc., the ratio of Ukrainian-Russian deaths are 5-10 to 1, with the Ukrainian death toll estimated between 300,000-350,000 — which is the reason Russia thinks it can win a war of attrition.

Because of sanctions against Russia, they were free to convert their entire economy to a war-machine — because that was what they deemed the most valuable production — while the Ukrainian economy has been virtually destroyed, and is only propped up by the US and its NATO allies. But all is not well in what George Orwell called “Oceania”; the other super powers are Eurasia (Russia) and East Asian (China, India).

That is the world we now live in — as well as the dominant and enduring civilizations for the last thousand years. We’re just not aware of it — from a Western civilization perspective that has cast Russia and China as the bad guys, and chief rival to Western hegemony and colonialism.

Russia does not need to take over the rest of the world. It already has most of the natural resources, a highly educated and competent citizenry, probably the most competent leader of these times, and only 140 million people occupying the largest land mass in the world — rich with natural resources. It already has a massive advantage, and a good relationship with its manufacturing powerhouse neighbor China — that no amount of ballot harvesting in the UN of countries in name only, can nullify.

Meanwhile, the Western nations are in decline, their infrastructures falling apart, and they have no solutions for the homelessness, crime and drug addiction that are rotting their major cities — and have Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as “leaders.”

That's what we thought at the start, but it's turning out to be a very unimpressive college team.

A country with a population of 36,744,634 is at war with a country with a population of 144,444,359. The larger country has the largest nuclear weapons arsenal in the world. Obviously the Ukrainians fight with more enthusiasm since their country is being invaded and they are equipped with advanced equipment from the West. Having said that they cannot “win” whatever that means. The sooner the war is ended the better. How many more mothers have to be informed that their sons will not be returning? When will Western politicians be satisfied with the amount of kickbacks they are receiving?

Yes, but I’ve learned over many years to be cautious concerning the reliability of quoted/cited sources.
