Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday offered his strongest dismissal of the election fraud theories at the heart of former President Donald Trump's push to overturn the 2020 election.
Asked by a reporter during a campaign stop in Iowa whether the 2020 election was "stolen," DeSantis said the fraud theories "did not prove to be true." He did not, however, mention the name of his top rival for the GOP nomination, who was just indicted for allegedly working to overturn the last presidential election.
"I've said many times the election is what it is," DeSantis said. "All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true. But what I've also said is the way you conduct a good election that people have confidence in, you don't change the rules in the middle of the game."
DeSantis went on to talk up changes made to Florida election law under his administration. And he criticized Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's grants for election administration, as well as social media outlets for deemphasizing information from President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden's laptop ahead of the 2020 vote — two favorite targets of conservatives when excoriating the last presidential election.

The US elections have been corrupt for a long time before covid. Philly hasn’t had an honest election for dog catcher in 200yrs. Election judges/officials go to jail frequently one election’s judge recently for ballot stuffing over a number of years but they don’t tell us the effected elections.
Adding in mass absentee balloting only makes it worse. The 2020 US election was the least secure election in first world history. NJ had 80% absentee ballots-in all of Europe 20% was the most.

Is anyone actually still looking into the allegations of vote fraud? If there are at least 77 million Trump voters, one percent is 770,000. Lots of raging about it, but without people putting in the effort to investigate and document the fraud, it means nothing.
Just a hair-breadth away from being added to our never vote for list, along with corrupt deep state hacks like Romney.
He seems determined to alienate Trump’s voters.

Absolutely. Of course ‘did not prove to be true’ because Trump did not hire the best attorneys and did not pay for the necessary recounts. The result was a failed attempt to prove the election was stolen, which we all saw.
If the court doesn’t allow a recount, because in most cases, they said Trump had no standing, you can’t claim any of the information about Trump not hiring the best attorneys and did not pay for the recounts is true.
You’re just trying to link an outcome - being denied a recount, with bad, unprovable conclusions - Trump had poor attorneys and didn’t want to pay for recounts.
If Trump isn’t the candidate, I stay home.

DeSantis is saying that Trump is lying when he said the election was stolen. He is adding his weight to help Jack Smith.

Many states did mail in voting without and sort of ‘chain of custody’ protections in place.
If Trump eloquently spoke about these details rather than screaming ‘I was robbed’ or ‘the system was rigged’ he would make a much more reasonable case to the public
Trump is a fighter, which we love, but he’s got to figure out how to tone it down and reasonably make his case. DeSantis died just that, but he lacks Trumps spirit.

Same folks that claimed Russian banner ads stole 2016 claim immense security while almost no security existed.
Given voting is paramount to the nation’s existence-sweeping it under the rug should be appalling to more than just Trump supporters.

This is an NBC story and the other one posted on FR with the same story is from the NYT. I think we all need to wait and see what he really said. ABC News the other day spliced up parts of President Trumps speech on Jan 6, 2020 and then put back together to make it look like Trump was inciting violence. This is the reality of the enemedia. We need to exercise caution with anything they say.
