DeSantis says election fraud theories promoted by Trump ‘did not prove to be true’
NBC News ^ | 8/4/2023 | Allan Smith, Alec Hernández and Henry J. Gomez

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday offered his strongest dismissal of the election fraud theories at the heart of former President Donald Trump's push to overturn the 2020 election.

Asked by a reporter during a campaign stop in Iowa whether the 2020 election was "stolen," DeSantis said the fraud theories "did not prove to be true." He did not, however, mention the name of his top rival for the GOP nomination, who was just indicted for allegedly working to overturn the last presidential election.

"I've said many times the election is what it is," DeSantis said. "All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true. But what I've also said is the way you conduct a good election that people have confidence in, you don't change the rules in the middle of the game."

DeSantis went on to talk up changes made to Florida election law under his administration. And he criticized Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's grants for election administration, as well as social media outlets for deemphasizing information from President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden's laptop ahead of the 2020 vote — two favorite targets of conservatives when excoriating the last presidential election.

DeSantis has had numerous opportunities to take the high road and demonstrate political courage and principles... but he always seems to go down the low road and give people reasons not to vote for him.

* * * * *

That's it!  Well said, First Mate Starboard.

DeSantis has been evading the issue of 2020 election integrity for years.  Even his book with the word "Courage" in the title weasels out on taking a stand on election fraud.

But now, with the crescendo of fake and politically-driven indictments against Trump threatening our Constitution and Freedom of Speech, DeSantis finally gives an opinion.

And that opinion is: the 2020 election fraud story isn't worth a hill of beans.

That statement proves he's either blind to the enormous evidence of fraud OR he's a coward who is totally owned by his DONORS.

Listen. You made the claim, you back it up.

You disputed it, you provide YOUR evidence.

Cyber ninjas actually confirmed the results.

That is the absolute *LIE* constantly spread by all the news liars the very minute we got the Cyber Ninja report.

All of us looked at their lies and we were incredulous that they would suppress the 75,000 *FAKE* ballots and claim that because all the counts with the *FAKE* ballots included came out to roughly the same number as the corrupt Maricopa county election officials reported, that it *PROVES* the election was legit.

If you toss *OUT* the FAKE BALLOTS then Trump wins by 60,000 votes, and that's just in Maricopa county alone.

Quit spouting bs based on ‘your recollection’.

Quit spouting bs based on regurgitating the *LIES* of the media lie machine.

Wow, I recommend you study math, calculus and statistics for a while and shut your pie hole. Then take that MATHEMATICAL LOGIC AND KNOWLEDGE and apply it to analyzing the results of the '20 election. That out come of that election was a statistical impossibility.

The irony is that Governor DeSantis oversaw legislation in his home state that greatly cleaned up elections. However, like Vivek, he is listening to the oligarchs that are financing his Presidential campaign.

The Uniparty plan is to eliminate Trump from the Republican nomination through imprisonment, removal by the GOP or state secretaries of state from the ballot, or termination with extreme prejudice. Then the remaining Republican candidates, all aligned with the Uniparty, some of whom, like Vivek and DeSantis, spout conservative rhetoric, will fight it out for the nomination. Now whether the RINO du jour beats Biden (or Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer) depends on whether the Deep State wants to win a war with Russia and China, in which case the Republican to win, or if they want to appease the Beijing-Moscow-Tehran axis to pursue their domestic goals, in which case the Democrat wins.

spoken like a true Trump follower.

For a while, I had to take this shit, like Ted Cruz back in 2016, because I had to consider winning. Earlier today, one of you referred to “Little Ronnie” in a message to me, following his leader in personal insults.

My son is less than average size. And he like Little Ronnie served in the military. Not like your hero, Mr. 4F, or either of his two adult sons.

This is only going to get uglier. But don’t the people Trump has insulted are coming to his rescue.

Think of this:
1. FACT: Was Trump kicked off Social Media platforms? YES!
2. FACT Was New York Post Story banned from the public? YES

If BOTH are true—election was stolen! Nothing else counts.

He’s more of a get it done type instead of a cross your fingers type that trump is. Trump did nothing to stop election fraud. DeSantis cleaned up Florida perfectly and got results. Trump still crossing fingers.

Armchair quarterbacking. Explain what Trump should have done to stop election fraud.

Interesting ad hominem, “true Trump follower”. Sounds exactly like Democratic rhetoric.

.. and they were *95%* for Joe Biden.

Coincidentally, that's about the same 'victory' margin that Adolph enjoyed from the last 'election' in '35 or so.

>>”The irony is that Governor DeSantis oversaw legislation in his home state that greatly cleaned up elections”

Yes he did sign some legislation. In all honesty I haven’t looked at the new legislation that closely. My take on Florida election law, as a Florida voter myself, is that it’s better than many states. Machines have been used for some time now, but voters first place their votes on paper ballots which are then fed into a scanner so, at least in theory, there’s a paper trail. I think the cheating is largely confined to a few, not surprisingly, liberal areas, in particular Broward County.

It’s interesting to me that the Democrats seem to have paid little attention to Florida’s election infrastructure since 2016. The fact that Trump was able to win the state in 2016 (and 2020), and the fact that DeSantis was able to win a narrow victory over Gillam in 2018 indicates that their control over elections in the state was not that strong. States like Pennsylvania, Michigan, etc., where the Democratic cheating infrastructure has had years to become entrenched, are better plays for them when it comes to cheating, so rather than fighting it out in Florida, they seem to have focused on other states, including Arizona and Georgia, and have had more success in doing so.

They no longer need to win in Florida in order to win a presidential election, so Florida was able to pass new election laws without much pushback from the Democrats.

Well, if you accept the fact that Maricopa County is run by communist thugs, things seem less mysterious, I grant.
