Poll: Tight race for 2nd in New Hampshire between Chris Christie, Ron DeSantis

Just two points separate Christie and DeSantis in New Hampshire poll.

Ron DeSantis is facing a serious threat from Chris Christie in the New Hampshire Primary, according to a new poll from the Manhattan Institute.

The survey conducted last month shows just two points separate the Florida Governor and the former New Jersey Governor, with both men in low double digits.

DeSantis stands at just 13%, two points up on Christie’s 11%. Close behind them are Vivek Ramaswamy (8%), Nikki Haley (7%), and Tim Scott (7%). This shows a functional diffusion of the opposition vote to Donald Trump, who still leads comfortably at 34%, but far short of the majority.

DeSantis made national news in New Hampshire with remarks issued at a BBQ in the town of Rye when he made reference to “slitting throats on Day One” if elected President, referring to “deep state people.” The remarks proved controversial.

This is the latest Granite State poll to show the Governor in trouble.

Christie may be a regional favorite up there.

I don’t see this as a bell-weather indicator of anything.

Perhaps others will...

Every possible measure is being uncorked by the party establishment — and it’s primarily for utterly bizarre reason.

They do truly believe Trump voters are GOP voters. The Wisconsin and Pennsylvania folks who elected Trump in 2016 had voted for Obama in 2012. They are Independents.

That doesn’t mean they are moderate. It means they feel strongly about rejecting the establishment of both parties.

These articles about 2nd place are delusional. 2nd place doesn’t mean anything. They are not going to be the heir apparent. They are the choice of the 10% of the GOP who are Never Trumpers. The other 90% are committed to Trump and Drain the Swamp. It’s astonishing how these 10% Never Trumpers don’t somehow realize THEY are the Swamp.

Is this an open primary — where the Democrats can intervene in support of the most leftist Republican and thereby discredit DeSantis?

It’s more of a bellwether for how poorly DeSantis is doing. He gets no early momentum and possibly loses Florida and every state.

I believe his supporters and staff thought he’d do a lot
better than this, and so yeah it does not break out of
that. I don’t see it as something new, that means he’s
still cratering, but even in that I could be wrong.

I work in an office/trading floor where everyone is on 100% straight Commission. This tends to be people that are self motivated. We are also mostly conservative or Republicans in general. Very few Democrats.

However, even a lot of these men(not the women) do NOT like Trump. They think he is an A$$hole. They would rather not vote for him. They do not like Biden either. Most do not follow politics as close as I do. My point is that Trump has turned off a lot of Republicans that voted for Reagan, Bush, Bush and Trump the first time around. These people may end up voting for Christy, Pence, Vivek, Scott or someone else in the NH primary.

It is pretty clear the Democrats have had Christie in the holding pen and he isn’t going to wait any longer. So they need him to win and play ball.
