Advocates for electric vehicles have once again been hit with a rather inconvenient fact.
With gas prices surging, the Biden administration has been relentlessly urging Americans to switch to electric vehicles as an alternative, with the supposed added benefit of being able to stop climate change.
The idea behind this push seems to be that it is cheaper to charge an electric vehicle than it is to fuel a car in the current economy. Thus, Americans who use EVs can rest assured that they do not have to worry about the price of gas.
However, a new report is bringing all of that into question, suggesting that it may in fact be more expensive to charge an electric vehicle.

What an utter load of crap. Where do you people find these fake news sites? This study presumes a cost of electricity of $0.25/kwh. But I pay $0.13/kwh. OK, California costs more... but you can also get off-surge pricing in California, using your Tesla as a battery.
It’s more expensive if you pay for ultra-fast charging at a commercial charging station like Electrify America or Tesla.
It’s less expensive if you overnight charge at home, putting the ticking time bomb in your garage...
Battery replacements are around $20,000. Makes the car worthless.
There is a lot near my house where they tore down a strip mall. They have been storing Teslas there for about a year. I’ve seen 30-50 of these vehicles when I drove by. The other day I decided to see if there were more cars back where I could not see from the road.
I estimate there are a little over a thousand Teslas stashed in that lot. They go in and charge them using these portable chargers.

Also, the wear and tear of the roads is significantly higher for EVs because they weigh so much more. And they are more dangerous in a collision because of their weight.
The fuel pricing doesn’t make sence. How can it cost 50% more to charge publically on some cars and 10% more on the others. The price of electricty will be the same no matter what car you are charging. This is a bogus article.
It is interesting even here, people dismiss this. Most people buying and owning an electric car don’t know this. Also, it hasn’t been covered by the MSM nor the major media on the web. Anything that doesn’t fit the narrative is suppressed and ignored.
Here in NE Utah we are at about $4.20+ for gas and $.08kwh for electricity so yeah, cheaper to charge.
When I last lived in Hawaii electricity was $.36kwh.

EV buyers are generally members of the climate change religion. Facts are irrelevant.
Yes, it is always drawing some current and if left standing and not charging, it will eventually go dead.
More EV’s will obviously demand more power generation.
More demand without adding more generating capacity will result in higher costs per kWh.
Everyone is paying more now and rates will probably continue to go up as the grid is taxed more.

Car companies make a lot more money off these EVs largely for two reasons, first the vehicles themselves have a lot less parts to manufacture and assembly is faster and easier. Secondly the batteries are made by the chicoms or others that have a labor pool they can force the work on. (like child slaves in the Congo.) Secondly it is the votes by the domestic workers and their unions to the rat party, notice the MSM never mentions the above.
SPOT ON!!! I’ve asked the question before, what is the TCO of an ICE vehicle at 200,000 miles and an EV at 200,000 miles?
Funny how the data for an ICE vehicle is readily available and simple to calculate. For an EV it “seems” that all this data is obscured and hidden.
Initial cost of EV way higher than ICE. Battery replacement cost vague answers at best. Battery longevity vague answers at best. If your battery gets upgraded in say 3-4 years, will the new one fit your car? If not, have fun finding a battery from diminishing supply. AUTOMATIC higher price. Tires wear out faster and are “special” for EV. The list goes on and on and there is NO DATA readily available.
There was a story a year or so ago where someone had one of the earlier Chevy Dolts and needed a new battery. Car was like 5yrs old or so. Battery cost more than the car was worth. Seems economical to me. NOT!! Resale value on EV must suck because there is no way to determine life left in battery. At lease with ICE, there is some historic data available.

That sounds like the same thing the SUV haters used to say. EV cars weigh about 4 or 500 pounds more than ICE cars. Maybe 10% more than a gas car. I call BS on that one too.
Yep, because repair costs are higher. A recent article stated that an EV truck was in a minor fender bender. The insurance estimated about $1800 to repair. The final cost was $42,000.
I review cars and I drove the Ford Mustang Mock E last year. Took it on a highway trip to test it out and got one hour from home before I had to charge it again. Cut short our trip and had to charge it again when I got back to Calgary.
Cost me 60-some dollars for both charges, and two hours wait time.
Two weeks later my wife and I did the identical trip in my 2005 Audi A4 Avant. V6, Quattro all wheel drive six speed manual and it burns premium gas. Cost us 50-something to fill it, once, and five minutes of time. And I drove it for another week on that tank.
The Ford would be fine for urban driving and commuting, but stupid for trips.
And therein lies the rub. For a city commuter an EV may be the perfect choice, but for many Americans that have to actually put in some windshield time, they are a fail.
The higher initial cost to buy the EV is far more than the gas of any other vehicle for over 150,000 miles.
