DeSantis campaigned in New Hampshire over the weekend, attending campaign events hosted by former Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA).
“We’re going to have all of these Deep State people, you know. We are going to start slitting throats on day one,” DeSantis said during the barbecue event. DeSantis also promised that his administration will ensure the woke agenda “ends up in the dustbin of history.”
New Hampshire Public Radio quoted one New Hampshire Republican voter who was not thrilled by the governor’s choice of words.
“If I was in charge of his PR, I would have said, ‘Don’t use that terminology,’” he remarked. Others on social media expressed similar sentiments.
“He is so bad at this,” one user remarked.
“I guess he’s going for the Charles Manson fan base vote…..” another said.
“Great, another one that hires ‘the best’ people to advise him,” one observed, as others joked that there will not be a “day one” of his presidency anyway:

DeSantis used the same terminology during an interview with Real America’s Voice last month, explaining that he would like his defense secretary to be someone who is ready to “slit some throats.”
“I think the idea that you take a flag (officer) or general officer who recently retired and put them as the Secretary of Defense, I think it is a mistake,” DeSantis said during the interview.

My favorite Mencken quote:
“Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.“
**********
I wanted it as my tag line when I joined Free Republic.
Exactly.
My guess is DeSantis didn’t learn that quote in a FL or public school.
I am surprised more people haven’t heard it. It’s a great quote.
I am just pointing out the ignorance of the poster of this thread, trying to make something out of nothing, which is typical pattern we see here on FR. Anyway, criticize DeSantis for wanting to remove Deep State while Trump has history of endorsing and appointing them. So, criticize Trump, excuse his behavior, blame others (which were themselves appointees), or insult people for lack of meaningful response or explanation?
I love the phrase. It paints a buccaneer image of a sailor boldly swinging aboard the ship of state and capturing it by whatever means necessary.
I contrast it against the image of Trump boarding from his gold plated ship’s tender, calling the crew names and then appointing more Christopher Rays or Bill Barrs to captain the ship.
As I understand, Ron’s major financial supporters are the “deep state.” Is this correct???
RE: Trump hasn’t said he’s going to slit throats. If he had, he’d be been indicted for doing so.
Prosecutor: Your Honor, may I introduce People’s Exhibit 12, the razor in possession of Donald Trump’s barber.
It is kinda “Pee Wee’s Big Afghan Adventure,” isn’t it.
Until Desantis starts getting indicted, i will not take him as a serious opponent to the deep state. And the more indictments the better, like kills on the side of a P-51.
>>“We’re going to have all of these Deep State people, you know. We are going to start slitting throats on day one,”
Good to hear.
Unlike Trump who appointed every incompetent and ‘deep-state’; person he could find to important positions, which is still haunting us.
Trump the carnival barker, couldn’t find good people to appoint to key govt positions if his life depended on it.
Based on what the cartels and MS13 operation, past and current performance. I think DeSantis is spot on.
Are FReepers now getting so wimpy that speaking like a man offends them?
DeSantis is not helping himself.
He chose to run too soon. Four years too soon.
Pence, Christie and Hutchinson are not worthy to be considered valid, nominee material.
Take their names down and you improve the picture.
Name me one other GOP POTUS Candidate you think is worse than DeSantimonious and we can debate, but for right now, as far back as I can remember, DeSantis is the worse!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Junior, if you can’t remember Mitt Romney then you are more juvenile than you appear.
Have you done all your back to school shopping? Fifth grade starts soon. Have you met your homeroom teacher yet?
Yeah, why is this “cringeworthy?” Don’t people know how MS13 gangs butcher people with machetes? They make Jack the Ripper look like Tinker Bell.
When a National candidate start talking about “slitting throats” as part of his
Washington cleanup, no-one is listening to what the cleanup might be about.
All the focus is on the stupid choice of words. No-one is even thinking about what his agenda is.
Like I said, this guy is a terrible candidate.
i remember when he started th 2018 Florida Gov campaign with, “Let’s not monkey this up.”
The Dems and the media had days hyping this, and DeSantis was explaining and qualifying, rather than talking about what he wanted to talk about.
He’s someone with a tin ear, who is trying to be deft, and is just failing totally. But better to find out now than in Sept 2028 with him at the top of the ticket.
True.
Yes, there are several people on FR that go out of their way to repeatedly diminish, diss, and criticize veterans for their military service while they themselves never served. Mass55th is another frequent and viralent anti-veteran poster.
