Unlike his somewhat aloof and sarcastic reaction to Trump’s indictment at the hands of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, DeSantis opted to react quickly to the news of Special Counsel Jack Smith announcing that a grand jury in Washington, D.C., had indicted Trump on charges relating to the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
“As President, I will end the weaponization of government, replace the FBI Director, and ensure a single standard of justice for all Americans,” DeSantis said in the statement posted to social media, admitting that he had not read the indictment.
“While I’ve seen reports, I have not read the indictment. I do, though, believe we need to enact reforms so that Americans have the right to remove cases from Washington, DC to their home districts,” he said, describing Washington, D.C., as a “swamp” and concluding that it is “unfair to have to stand trial before a jury that is reflective of the swamp mentality.”
“One of the reasons our country is in decline is the politicization of the rule of law. No more excuses—I will end the weaponization of the federal government,” he added.

However, many on both sides of the political aisle quickly criticized DeSantis’s response.

I disagree with whatever Jack Smith has announced now although I have not read the indictment.
I think President Trump disagreed with being a target of this most recent investigation although he did not know for sure how the indictment would read.
However, if you don't agree that Governor DeSantis should run in a primary where there is no incumbent - no one is trying to stop you.
A hung jury is just another step towards another trial and the economic destruction of the defendant. Just keep it up till they plead guilty to something.
A conviction would be a better result since it will get overturned on appeal. You can’t appeal a hung jury.
And yes, you do HATE Trump. Everyone on this forum believes you are guilty of that.
I consider those not supporting Trump as part of the enemy. The FBI, deep state, leftist media, Antifa, globalist, neocons and the rest are ALL out to destroy Trump. We all know why.
Anyone siding with THEM against Trump should be considered an enemy. This is not overly complex.
Pence did the opposite, he bashed Trump while admitting he hadn’t read it.
They want to end the weaponization just like they’ve “ended” political impeachments...Basically, they want the tools to use against Trump but once in they’ll make sure it’s not used against the Rats....screw that.
