Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz predicted Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” that the Supreme Court would overrule a conviction of former President Donald Trump for his alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election.
Discussing the indictment, Dershowitz said, “They claim that Donald Trump actually believed that he lost the election. That everything he did was fraudulent. That he conspired with un named lawyers mostly.”
He continued, “I read the indictment carefully. There is no smoking gun. There is no one who is credibly prepared to testify that Donald Trump said to him, I know personally, I lost the election. There is a lot of evidence a lot people told me he lost the election but you know Donald Trump and you ,know he will make up his own mind. And they’ll have a very hard time proving it. District of Columbia, so 90 percent of the jury pool voted against him. So, they may actually get a conviction from a D.C. jury but will survive appellate review and review in the Supreme Court? I don not think so.”
Dershowitz added, “I think he may lose in the states court of appeals for the D.C. Circuit, but I think he will probably win appeals the United States Supreme Court if they grant review and they should grant review.”

At this point the Demonrats don’t care. All they want is to keep DJT out of the ‘24 election.
They are already bringing up masks again for a reason..if getting Trump doesn’t work, they will create another virus(Heck they are already working on it as a back up plan) so that they will have to send out ballots to everyone so they can commit fraud again
Wrong. They want him to be the GOP nominee but to be so weakened by scandal and depleted of finances that he easily gets clobbered in the general election.
And Republican primary voters are going to hand the Democrats total victory in 2024 on a silver platter.
It will be a “public health emergency” declared or a “climate emergency” declared. They have both at the ready to try and lock us down again. This time it will not work.
But by the time they do, it will be too late for Trump, which is the whole point of the exercise. Not to convict and imprison Trump, but to derail his candidacy long enough to miss the 2024 Presidential Election.

The indictment is the goal. A conviction would only be a bonus.
Their intent here is to keep Trump out of the election and to deny him the White House should he win anyway.
Given the desperation of the Democrats to do the above it is becoming clear that they know no amount of election chicanery will stop Trump from unseating the dreadfully unpopular Potato-in-Chief Biden.

And, so Fing what? To contest an election (that is done all of the time, every election) it is to be expected that you believed it was illegitimate. If you didn’t, you’d be pursuing a fraud.
Contesting a Pres election is covered in the Const — you go after the Electors as they are the ONLY way a Pres is elected. Every election has protests and challenges to Electors. As a matter of fact, the Electors in the swing states were constitutionally illegitimate — as defined by the Const.
Regardless, saying you believe something and then talk about it is central to free speech. And, THAT is why the Democrats are pursuing DJTrump, they want this to serve as an example of how they can throw you in jail for free speech.
If he is convicted of that, the US gov’mt has to fall. And, we have a legal option to do that.
My best case scenario (apart from Smith just dropping all charges) is for the Trump legal team to file for summary dismissal on First Amendment grounds, the Obama judge denying the motion, then the Trump team appealing to the Supreme Court who overturn the denial, thus granting a summary dismissal.
The GOP base has completely lost confidence in the party’s leadership, and a sizable portion of them are never again going to support the parade of @ssholes the party has rolled out as candidates over the last 30 years.
To be honest, I am worried for his safety. Like will New York City or some other bunch of corrupt Democrats arrest him and kill him in custody? Like they did with Epstein.
I have zero confidence in Trump's ability to win the general election.
But I'll tell you what. I hope on Election Night, everyone here on Free Republic piles on me, tells me how wrong I was and what an idiot I've always been. It'll be the most delicious plate of crow I'll ever eat.
Sadly, it's far more likely I'll be the one serving schadenfreude.
