So there’s a double standard for Ukraine, when the Muscovites have leveled entire towns and cities there?

Russia could end the attacks inside Russia by ending the war and removing all their troops from Ukraine.

Sure, he can attack inside Russian territory....just not with U.S. supplied weapons which are provided for defense of Ukraine. Any USA weapons get used outside of Ukraine and the $$$/weapons gravy train stops.

Fair is fair, but our interest is to resolve this matter. Ukraine has limited time to kick the Russians out of the territories it conquered in 2022 and possibly also in 2014. Ukraine should be focused on liberating its lost territories. Its attacks on Russia itself appear mostly to be a diversion and, further, unnecessarily risk escalation.

Once we (Ukraine’s backers) are satisfied Ukraine has done what can be done to move the borders back, we (again, Ukraine’s backers) should support an armistice line backed-up by NATO troops, along with a path to EU and NATO membership. Ditto Moldova, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Russia will then have a choice: become the next North Korea (in the sense of an isolated nuclear power along with a heavily-armed border) or negotiate in good faith with the west for the restoration of trade and finance, and permanent borders with Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova.

While I believe we should have no part in this fight, why should Russia be able to bomb the crap out of Ukraine but Ukraine not be allowed to respond in kind?

That makes no sense at all to me.

Well, as long as someone else is footing the bill and supplying all the ammo, sure. As long as you keep supplying the bodies.

A real faustian bargain there fellas.

Was there some outcry about it not being fair to attack the other side in war? Or was Zelensky just trying to spin it as if there was for propaganda purposes?

Of course, targets in Russia should be considered fair game in a war they started.

I think the most important consideration from Ukraine's perspective should be whatever ends the conflict the soonest, with their objectives intact.

My belief is that Ukraine can probably not hold their country together without considerable external suppport. And that support is likely to lead to an escalation. In that case, there's really no telling when it ends, or how.

Based on the last year and a half, no clear winner has emerged. An escalation might win it, but it might also draw a response that ratchets up the war even more. I know people don't like trading land for peace, but the costs of war are devestating.

--- "Zelensky Declares it Is ‘Absolutely Fair’ For Ukraine to Attack Targets Inside Russia"

You write, "Wrong again money whore douchebag"

With respect, I disagree. I think the proverbial gloves should come off on both sides in this STILL OFFICIALLY non-NATO war between two non-NATO nations. All targets in Russia and ALL targets in Ukraine should be open to attack, as, in Z's 'fine' words, "absolutely fair."

If "restraint" were set aside, I imagine the resulting pain to either side would fully clarify. And of course, the Western world would....

...do nothing until the dust settled. Nothing except hold conferences, publish articles, write strongly worded declaration and waste massive sums of money and materiel.

Because that's what has already been done. Best regards.

For once I agree with Zelensky. Attacking Russia proper is perfectly in accord with the Laws and Usages of war.

Be careful what you wish for, amigo.

In honor of Ukraine’s wartime heritage, Zelensky will rename drones used on Russian territory V-1s and V-2s.

Ok, but not with our toys and serial numbers. Buy your own with your own money and use them. The world survived after Hiroshima, Nagasaki…and Chernobyl. Good luck.
