Prices at the pump in the US hit an eight-month high this week — boosted by the increased cost of crude oil as producers slash output.
According to roadside assistance company AAA, as of Friday, the average national gas price is $3.73 per gallon for regular gas — up 20 cents from last month’s average.
The more fuel-efficient premium gas, meanwhile, has surged to nearly $4.50 — also a 20-cent increase from June.
California’s average is the highest, at $4.95 per gallon of regular gas. In counties like Mono, for example, located just outside Yosemite National Park, the price per gallon has soared to an eye-watering $6.05, according to figures by AAA.

OPEC again ,want’s some Cash
It’s almost like it’s done on purpose. But that’d be a conspiracy theory, wouldn’t it?
Hopefully they will remain high thru 2024 and the next Presidential election.
Stolen elections have consequences.
I suppose if we built that pipeline 2 years ago and gave incentives for drilling and refining two years ago we’d be all set.
or it’s setting things up so Biden can dump more Oil Reserve
IMHO the pipeline is chump change compared to the regulations against fracking (EO's Brandon signed his first week in office, plus new regulations to "carbon capture"). I'd rather win the battle to unleash the free market in fracking than win the battle on the pipeline.
I m thinking at some point of dumping it it will be obvious and politically untenable for the people running Biden to dump more oil reserve for national security in times of War, etc.
The high gas prices and inflation this will cause from everything that oil is used to make and transport will hang like an anvil around Biden’s re-election “campaign”.

I saw a meme stating that the “President” has nothing to do with the price of oil. Bull Merd. “Joe” shut down domestic production day one of the Coup d’etat. The subsequent lack of supply from domestic sources was “met” by draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and by begging the enemy for more oil…
We stopped winning just over two years ago.
FUJB/LGB
Reports are the biden crime family wants $8 / gallon for starters
Inflation, still present, has slowed.
Yet, interest rates hit highest level for roughly 30+ years.
Now add a little mix of high fuel prices, in the middle of summer, and .....
Expect more inflation and probably recession.
Media will be running stories blaming high gas prices on climate change. Take it to the bank.
Congress needs to pass an act making the President, Vice President and leaders of both the House and Senate responsible for paying for all the fuel they use. Vehicle or aviation. Private or Government vehicles, helicopters and planes. Let them take it in the shorts for a while and maybe they’ll understand Bidenomics a little better.
Bidenomics are great.
