I know, you would think these folks pushing electric everything would catch on at some point ...it ain’t going to work, it just isn’t. You are very much correct. The EV forums are full of people supporting the nat gas bans even though many power utilities now depend on natural gas fueled plants (to replace the shut down coal plants). There is no talking sense to people in a cult.
At this point the only reason to go more electric is if you can produce most or all of your own power.

Worse. The greeniacs decades ago said “NO COAL,,,use clean burning natural gas.”
The power industry said “Yes, boss. Whatever you say, boss.”
A couple decades go by and the greeniacss said “Oops, we bad. Natural gas is as dirty as coal. Use windmills and solar. “
So the power industry said “Yes, boss. Whatever you say boss.”
The power industry was spineless, reactionary, no longer had technical leadership, and killed itself. That’s why I left it in in the year 2000.

If there’s any outage, and the backup generators are down for whatever reason, I’m sure they’ll have the military fly in gen sets.

Most people have NO CLUE how much current is consumed to charge an EV. They think it’s like a 40 watt light bulb. There is no way the current base load will be adequate to support demand for EVs. And forget the usefulness of the $million pinwheels dotting the landscape especially in cloudy climates.
Not only is common sense not common anymore, neither are critical thinking skills.

As long as they spare DC. We can’t have our leaders being uncomfortable. Besides, FJB says he’s going to bring relief from the heat.

Not even 1% of the cars on the roads are electric.
Oh, that's not a problem. You just won't be able to charge your very expensive electric cars on days ending in "Y" -- unless you're part of the club, that is.

Most people have NO CLUE how much current is consumed to charge an EV. They think it’s like a 40 watt light bulb. There is no way the current base load will be adequate to support demand for EVs. You are correct. On top of that, most EV owners charge at highest speed (at home with Level 2 charging with the new EV's that's about 11kW) with the idea that faster charging increases the efficiency of converting AC to DC. (I almost always charge mine at the lowest Level 2 speed which is 5.6kW, but that's a solar thing).
And if that's not bad enough, most EV owners also set their EV to complete charging at the point they leave the next morning. (The idea is that the battery life lasts more years if it doesn't have to regularly hold a large charge for as long a time.) So not only are we looking at most people charging at the fastest speed possible, we're looking at them all doing it at the same few hours before work/school. (I usually charge mine with an intermittently powered outlet that's powered by my inverters only when I have lots of free solar power, which is during the day.)
Or another way to put it, most EV owners expect a miracle to be done by others (power utility/government). There's little personal responsibility on their part and a lot of animosity towards people they think are killing them, including the people supplying their power.
